Have you ever wondered just how fast your kart goes in 200cc? I did. I also figured out how fast it really is. You see, most tracks in the game don't have any recorded length, but there is one exception I could find: N64 Rainbow Road. It is stated to be 2000m long. I could just run a lap and say that it's good enough, but there I are too many variables that cannot be accounted for very well. Thus, I need to measure out part of the track and then drive over that. And as luck would have it, the track is made up of little squares in Mk8. So, by counting up how many tiles are crossed in a single lap around the track, you can see how long each tile is. I measured, and found the track to be 1102 tiles long. This means that the tiles are 1.815m long, each. Now, the hard part is finding a non-screwy part of the track to test speed on. Most of the straightaways have mandatory boost or those bouncing chain chomps. There is one that does not have either, and it's right where the final leg of the race starts. That straightaway is 60 tiles long. So, we are looking at a 108.9m long distance for our tests. Using Lemmy, the peach parasol, mr scooty, and the roller tires, I found a max speed of 65.77kmh(40.87mph). Using Dry Bowser, the metal wheels, the standard atv, and the standard glider, I found a max speed of 96.34kmh(59.86mph). Thus, we have a range of 65.77kmh - 96.34kmh. In my research of real life 200cc motors, this is a good approximation of how fast they go without changing sprockets or anything like that.

Neat. Thanks for the post anon.
Nice analysis and good thinking. Almost 100kmh seems pretty crazy speed for a kart.
They did a game theory about this recently and said it was like 100 mph so what gives?

So about the speed of a car on a non-rural highway? That...less than what I was expecting to be honest. Still, great job on the research, anon.

But anon, your ass is about two inches off the ground in a kart.

Game Theory is trash.
>>380850581
Neat, thanks for the experiment

>kmh
In ENGLISH, doc.

Really good post anon, thanks.

It's simple math though right? They even measured with the squares the same way.
The speeds in the name retards
200kph

You have too much time on your hands but awesome nonetheless.

The conversions areliterally right next to them. Think before you shitpost.

They measured the length of the start/finish line using Mario's height in Game Theory, and that is very unreliable even according to Mr. Patrick. I'm not even sure how they found out the scale for Mario in that video. The start/finish line squares are also a lot smaller than the tiles the course is made of, not to mention it is a much smaller test area.

Ah. Americans and their ass backwards units

Cc is engine displacement. Next your gonna say a 200HP car goes twice as fast as a 100HP car, huh?

cool, that's pretty good trivia
