I had a good bit of fun with the shooting in it, but yeah, there was no story to speak of and in technical terms it was a mess. Played it on the PS3 and the texture pop-in was insane. Then again i got it for like 10€, so there's that to take into consideration.

Had no idea it had taken that long to develop either, content wise it seems like a game with a 2 year cycle tops. Guess the rep it gets around here makes sense for people who were with the game on day 1.

It's also horribly unoptimized, but I finished it because I had paid full price

I remember trying an original one for a couple minutes and the most significant problem i noticed was the bumpers. They were hell to press correctly, but they thankfully fixed that. I think they also generally made it better in most aspects, but i can't vouch for that.

What i can guarantee is that coming from a DS3 to a Xbone S controller, you can really tell the difference. It feels super resistant and bulky and has a nice velvety finish to it that makes it super pleasant to hold. All the buttons are nice and clicky too, even the D-pad.

OK, yeah, I'll elaborate. SO, if you just jumped in with W3 first, you probably feel like there's a lot of backstory you missed, right? Here's the thing though, that backstory they keep referencing is like 50% from Witcher 2, 45% from the books, and 5% from Witcher 1. The games are not a re-telling of the books, keep in mind, they're chronologically sequels. Witcher 3 is kinda a series farewell / love letter to fans, so it tries to include as many references as possible, some of which are super obscure. It also attempts to unite the timelines of the books and games, which had some comic-booky canon discrepancy issues.

In addition, Witcher 1 didn't really have all the mechanics ironed out. It's a lot like the first mass effect that way - it's fine, but the successors really took the gameplay to a higher level of polish. As such I don't recommend going back to W1 for most people. The time : value ratio isn't that good. Read a summary of the plot and move on.

The first few hours are nice.
Then you get six or seven hours in and you realize it's really repetitive and the overworld maps are basically the same, just differently placed city markers. The battles are okay but very unbalanced because you could do great one turn but then the enemy (Specifically orcs) can literally fuck your army up in a single turn.

I was still in highschool when I bought this, first game I ever bought on Steam right after I built muh gabenstation, had been a drone all my life save for Runescape, Warcraft 3, and a whirl with Spore.

Back in the early 2000s my friend brought his xbox to my house over the weekend with a bunch of games, we mainly played Halo 2, at the end he had to walk home when he left so he didn't take the Xbox with him until next weekend. During that week I of course took the opportunity to play those Xbox games, he recommended me Fable: The Lost Chapters and I burned through that game in a week having all the fun in the world, he and my other friends were shocked at the shitty gear I used to beat the Arena with and how quickly I finished the whole game. Then after he took that Xbox back I never had another experience with a Fable game until Fable 3.

First Steam game, and just remembering what Fable TLC was like back in the day I couldn't wait to play a newer, bigger, better Fable, I was really fucking pumped. An entire fucking hour of this went into figuring out Windows live and then another hour into sheer disappointment. Ended up buying Portal 2 after. I wish I never knew Fable 3 happened.

Game tries to cater to OLD saints row fan with flashback missions, but fail because the game itself will cater to NEW fans that will just find those flashbacks confusing and out of place. Driving seems to suck even more than SR3, surprising because it's literally the same game (at least you can superhero your way though everything)
Borderlands 2 tier writing, which is funny because there's a FUCKING ANTHONY BURCH DLC, WHAT THE FUCK
