Well I love RPGs but I always felt stressed when playing Witcher. When I got to that mountainous map I felt burned out and bored so I just wrapped up the main quest. I should give it another chance but on PS4 it looks not that great imho.

Either way, the main appeal of the witcher is the story telling, characters and graphics. I'm not sure which quests you played but 90% of the quests have a cool twist to them. The characters are extremely likeable, to me at least, and I'm invested in their stories and dialogues.
Gameplay is just OK enough not to bother you.

But if you can't get into the world, that's understandable. For me, it took me 5 tries to get into Witcher 1

I was stoked for TW3 having loved TW2, and since buying it in 2015, as of today, I've put like 30 hours into it. Every time I boot it up and start playing I'm just not having fun and the it gets dropped for another 6 months.

People enjoy TW games for various reasons, but the most frequent one is simply a (at least genre-relatively) good fiction that they provide. Extremely well build world (it's not a matter of graphics, but rather art direction, design, attention to detail) and good characters with solid writing are actually fairly rare sights in the medium and well worth playing for alone. Especially when the gameplay around them is OK (not great, mind you, just OK). Most people I know who enjoy it are about our age bracket (I'm roughly the same age as you are), people who were raised on golden era PC games and hardly people who seek graphic validation as much as you ultimately seem (despite so vigorously denying it).

It's much more likely that there is any of the possible dozens of personal reasons that you can't enjoy it - especially if you do admit enjoying TW2.

This board seems to be literally split down the middle. People hate it or love it.
Having played it myself i can safetly say from a story telling perspective, available content, music score, graphical quality and minor RPG elements its better than the majority of half assed AAA games released in the past few years alone.

While i know /v/ is full of retards, shit posters from /b/ and /pol/ eccentrics i can't get my head round the fact that people genuinely think this is a bad game in comparison to the shit we've been given in the past 4 years or so.

I'm not saying it's perfect and i'm not saying it's a great RPG game but it is without a doubt better than anything else i've played in recent times.

Money holds practically no value whatsoever, and the only loot you find thats useful is alchemy ingredients. Which would be fine if...

...the combat system wasn't so barebones and bland. Throughout your 150+ hour adventure, you use one moveset, 5 bland spells, a crossbow, some bombs and optional potions. The enemy and boss design is so generic and boring though, that using all that hify shit like potions and decoction is pretty much pointless. The biggest strategy is just to mash light attack twice, backhop, and repeat. A large majority of the enemies follow this mentality, and it never truly evolves into anything more meaningful. Why does Djikstra have the same moveset as a wild hunt warrior you fight with Keira?
The game even reskins and recycles enemies in paid DLC, and then dares to call them new ones with new beastiry entries.

The quest design is made for literal braindead children who can't think for themselves. Its obnoxiously yawn inducing because the "investigations" you do are practically you just walking around in circles and spamming X so geralt can shove some more exposition down your throat. It lacks depth, challenge, player activity and more than anything else, longevity. It never evolves into anything more unique or interesting, and it persists through the ENTIRE 150+ hours.

The main quest is basically super mario in poland, where Geralt goes around picking flowers, herding goats and helping every bum under the sun just so he can get the usual message that "nah bro, I don't know shit senpai"

Then at the end when you defeat Eredin (who is the most bland fucking villain I've ever seen, he has less lines than reskinned shopkeepers in Velen), the white frost just suddenly comes at the same exact time and Ciri defeats it somehow and everythings awesome and then yay the game ends.
Its rushed as fuck and I lost all my interest in caring about the characters during that arc.

HOS is the best content in the game, but it doesn't fix the gameplay gripes. The story is great however and has the only good antagonist in the entire game.

B&W is fine, but again has the same problems with its open world, quest design, enemy design, and even the main quest.

Overall the game doesn't have a single piece of good gameplay, and the only thing that comes close is the boss fight with Dettlaff.
Its worth experiencing because of things completely unrelated to it being a video game. You would get the same exact experience from just watching it on youtube for fucks sake, and even then it would save you money, time and most of all effort since you wouldn't have to wade through boring filler.

Source? I'm not denying that it's untrue, but this will need some serious proof here. Because the only actual statement on this subject I can find out is from 2013, based on an old presentation from private lecture on SIGGRAPH suggesting that both first and third person perspectives might be available or are under consideration. It's actually about as out-dated and suspect as it can get.

I was taken aback because on the low I did wanna fuck an elf really bad.

The thimg that blew me away was the ending to HoS with Gaunter O'Dimm walking away tossing the skull about whistling the theme. Best use of theatrics and drama ive ever seen in a game.

Dijkstra is definitely my favorite character in the game. Sided with him during all prompts just for personal bias. He did Temeria well in the end desu.
