Problem (for VA strike) is that out of many talents in union, only a handful are really known. With them giving only voices to characters, and usually in some specific way (Cartoonish voice, digitally-mixed voice and so on), so for any regular consumer it's next to impossible to remember "that one person who gave voice to that one character". Not to sound like fedora consumer, but humans rely way too much on visual images to remember stuff.
So, with that in consideration, what's most logical step for company if their VA is on strike? Get another one, of course. Not to mention that bigshots of industry like EA and so on crapped on integrity of any kind, so they would switch VA's on a whim even without strikes sometimes.
So, basically: consumers can't and don't care about majority of actors and companies don't care about voices in general as long as there are /some/ voiceovers, no matter how shitty.

I don't stand with actors on strike though. I know it's world where everyone are by themselves, but right here, in this industry, they are not most important people, and their complaints sound rather asinine considering how many people are against any sort of voiceovers. They probably falsely think that games = movies, and this bites them in the ass now. Now, if they'd somehow made other people fight for their rights, like programmers and designers, that could work. It won't, of course, because union will more likely shot itself in the head than help someone unrelated to them.

I don't see how the strike will actually end. Publishers don't need SAG actors so they'll never give in to the demands of the union. On the actors side, no voice actor works on games exclusively; they do cartoons commercials, live acting etc. This isn't a typical strike in which people are literally out of a job for the duration.
