>"I wanted to like this game, I really did"
What's wrong with that sentence? You can try to overlook differential faults if it's your favorite developer etc.
There is nothing wrong with that sentence. Sometimes a game looks really appealing on the outside but you find out its not all its cracked up to be once you dig in. Or sometimes your favorite series/developer makes a bad game,

I think because it sounds like they hated the game before they even played and are lying when they say "I wanted to like this game, honest".
>fuck you /v/ i'm going to play this game and i'm going to love it and there's nothing you can do to stop me
>is it wrong that i

My exact experience with Ori. Doesn't help that I lost a save file with good progress and now I have to slog through it until I get there again.
Story/visuals look like something I would enjoy, trailer for 2 looks good too. The platforming is 90% of times infuriating.

>Dragon Quest, fucking nips how do they like this game.
Dragon Quest is legitimately one of the best JRPGs for people who otherwise don't give a shit about the genre. It skips out on the excessive focus on story that bloats and restricts everything else with nonsense and just focuses on exploration.

There's a difference between a game being functionally good, and contextually good though.
I mean look at Half Life for example, don't you think that this weighs in?
