>>
Do you want that level of detail? Maybe I'm violently autistic but for me the more visually realistic a game is the harder it is for me to keep focus and not be blinded by a blur of sensory overload
>>
>single frame of Pixar movie takes 24 hours to render
>'FUCK SAKE VIDYA DEVS WHEN WILL I GET THE SAME LEVEL OF DETAIL AT 60 FRAMES A SECOND'
>>
>>380822089
A little of this for sure.

Mario games kinda look like this already, they're just on underpowered hardware so there's a discrepancy. We can go further, I guess. Not really into it but eh.
>>
>>380821961
Never. That movie took how many hundreds of thousands of hours to render?

keep supporting lazy gaming practices, cuck. you are what ruined the industry. we need gamergate back more than ever damn
>>
>>380822843
I'll give you a 2/10 for that bait
>>
>>380822843
this.
>>
>>380821961
Never, but we will get it in a shitty simulator.

For a game, sacrifices have to be made. For a fun game, a lot of sacrifices have to be made.

I for one prefer gameplay more than GRAFICS

but hey if I can have both than thats great but like I said I prefer one to the other and you should too.
>>
When we get the hardware, probably in 4 or 5 more generations at the rate Nvidia is doing right now.
>>
>>380821961
Well you have to keep in mind that in movies like that they render ALL of the detail ALL of the time (within that shot, obviously)

Like, a shadow on a floor 40 meters away is being rendered with the same precision as one on the main character right here up front

That's why it takes so long I'd imagine

vidya developers just have to find the right way of taking shortcuts, you know, having objects smoothly transition into lower LoDs when they reach the distance where you can't tell

But yea, sure it's possible, pretty much
It's just not economically viable

because rendering in real time takes a lot of processing
it's not an issue of whether or not the graphics can look that good, it's an issue of whether or not the hardware can render it stably and quickly.
>>
>>380821961
looks like if spore was a ps4/xbone game

honestly one of the only reasons Breath of the Wild was so enjoyable was because of dat soundtrack.
Why more new games don't have soundtracks like that is baffling.

Eh, I think you're being too generous. The bait deserves a just 0.5/10 at best.
>>
probably never. not because of technology but because of the time and money required. I'm sure if there was endless resources we could already make something like that, but who is going to sink that much into eyecandy when something less elaborate can do the same job?
