This was such an underwhelming final boss. The DS1 reference, like most others in this game, did nothing for me. Gwyn was a bitch, and as a second-phase to a boss which was already a push-over, my enthusiasm was not lifted.

I love the Souls series, but DS3 didn't have an original bone in its body. The only original thing DS3 ever did was the concept of Angels, and that wasn't explored/explained.

maybe it was because my first run I went with the lucerne the whole game, but still, the magic and attack overlaps made the whole game a chore and not fun at all.

the only original game in the series was demon souls, ds1 was just demon souls 1.5, dark souls 2 was a bunch of shit from those two games and 3 was again mostly shit from those first two games again with a lil bit of ds2 around the edges

Unironically the best final boss in the series. Very climactic, but still not as hard as I would have liked.

If you played the rest of the series already Demon's Souls will probably feel underwhelming for you. There's a lot of clunkiness/really retarded design decisions like certain areas and events being locked behind world tendency, but the level design is fantastic and it has a lot of great boss fights and enemy designs. If you do ever play it you'll probably find it has a lot in common with Dark Souls 3, since it felt like 3 was From's attempt to partially bring Demon's Souls to everyone that hadn't had a chance to play it.

The "angels" were the Primordial Serpents. You can find statues of them done up in angelic garb near Gertrude's cell. It was just the Jew Snakes influencing Lothric from the background.
