ok
>>
but you can beat it in a day
>>
THAT TICKLES
>>
>>380816351
Nothing wrong with beating it daily. Or even multiple times in the day. Just be sure to drink some water.
>>
>>380816202
I wish mario's default runspeed was a little faster.
It's a little annoying to have to dive flip over and over again to cover ground in any reasonable timeframe.
Also I could have done without getting booted out of a level for each star collected.
>>
>>380816202
Sure, but first, we need to talk about parallel universes
>>
>>380816202
>cant possess people with your hat
whats the point even
>>
>>380816351
If you're a grown man with countless hours of free time and have been playing games for most of your life, maybe.

the fucking controls arent perfect

Retweet if you tried to jump into the screen when you saw this xD

+1
>>
>Wake up early in the morning
>Play some mario 64 in my jammies
>Sis licks my toes as I play to the sound of light rain and parents snoring in the next room
Man, so many good memories with this game. I hope I'm not being too biased, although most of the advanced mechanics were totally lost on me at the time.
>>
>>380816967
ever play banjo kazooie?
>>
The camera isn't very good
>>
>>380820236
Sounds comfy haha. I wonder what she thought your toes tasted like haha.
>>
>>380816202
100 coins on rainbow can go FUCK itself
I blew through, through every other star in two days, having a blast; I forgot how well it holds up

but FUCK this carpet shit FUCK it all
I know I can platform my way around them, but the instant death is just too fucking much
>>
I recently played it for myself and found it slightly above mediocre.
I thought the mission set pieces were fun at times, but shit like collecting coins and walking over a number of secret spots sucked.
The controls were nice at the time but I swear mario walks forward just a tad before he does a u-turn and it makes me walk off cliffs like a dumbass.
meh camera.
some missions are also cryptic.
But it was still pretty fun overall, I just would never go back to it.
>>
Banjo is far superior
>>
I like how it is getting DLC to this day

https://youtu.be/UPFdXvCxQwU
>>
>>380820682
Agreed.
Banjo's last few levels pissed me off but I still felt more compelled to complete it.
>>
>>380820606
No complaints from her on the taste ;)

it is perfect, what's left to say
>>
>>380820793
Good god I need to try this out. Would you recommend this to someone how enjoyed Star Road?
>>
>>380816351
That's a good thing
>>
>>380816967
diving while running is what I actually dream of when I'm not playing the game. That and climbing and jumping to and from trees.

God tier mechanics. Possibly the best I've ever seen.

The real issue is his walk to run ratio being off, making those tight spots harder to navigate.
>>
>>380820976
Dammit, anon.
>>
>>380821103
The new items & bosses are a bit rough around the edges, but yes, great game.

I don't know about perfect, but it's really great. It holds up pretty well today. I can't imagine how people reacted when it came out.
>>
>>380822796
But didn't you realize that's not the case when you jumped through the painting and saw that the bob-ombs were always marching and only had feet?

All 120 stars in a day? Not likely fag...

I was head over heels addicted to mario 64. It blew my mind how immersive the graphics were. Pilotwings 64 and starfox 64 were great too.

The painting that sparked my vidya addiction
>>
I dont understand how people enjoy that game. The controls are so fucking loose and slow, the whole game is just collecting those fucking stars one at a fucking time. And graphically the game is a nightmare, FF7-tier at best. I just dont get how anyone can like that shit.
>>
>>380816202
An A press is an A press. You can't just say its half.
>>
why can't we get a true sequel to Mario 64?
Don't give a fuck what anyone says, Sunshine and the Galaxies don't compare and I don't like the hat in the new one
why can't they make something almost exactly like 64 but with modern tech
>>
Are there many other games with a movement similar to SM64's? I just love how Mario moves
>>
>empty void worlds
>those ugly assets
>thrown out of the level after every star

It's alright.

You'd understand if your first console wasn't a PS3. It's okay. I'm sure when you hit you mid 25s in a decade or so, you'll be pining for garbage like TLOU.
>>
>>380823537
Spotted the sonnyger.

>haha you guys play The Last of Us for a true vidya experience
>>
How is one expected to know to jump into the paintings?
>>
>>380824310
They wobble when you touch them
>>
>>380823537
>FF7-tier at best
FFVII used prerendered assets for the world so... no, definitely not.

I do agree that the game is ugly as sin, though.
>>
>>380823832
>>380823935
lol Im actually really old, and have hated the game since I first played it in a Sears in 1995. I loved the N64 itself, but for some reason everything about Mario64 rubs me the wrong way, always has. Didnt really like Ocarina of Time either, but I was a bigtime Smash64fag
>>
>>380824310
Your point is valid but just to show you how influent SM64 is, here in Quebec every normie calls levels "tableaux" instead of "niveaux" which translates to "paintings" instead of "levels".

I just find it kinda cute that SM64 is so important that it changed the definition of a word for a, dare I say it, whole country
>>
>>380824819
your 'country' is the second worst blight upon north america, only above mexico.

Stay mad, Albertan fuck.

Quebec's bound to decide to fate of every election in Canada, and there's nothing you can do about it. The vast majority of your PMs will be French, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Gotta thank Trudeau Sr for official bilingualism. ;)

Because you walk into an empty room and see a painting with stairs leading to it, and it being the only thing in the room, you naturally walk up to it. Then you see it wiggle and it all makes sense
You can't be silly enough to challenge Nintendo on intuitive game design, can you?

Toad literally tells you to in the main hall.

>>380826459
I don't even think I could read when I first played it and I figured it out.
>>
It is an amazing game. This game melds platforming with exploration in a 3D enviroment perfectly. Most games were just 3D platformers, others just exploration, Super Mario 64 made both and made it good.
>>
