There's a monster just like Pyramid Head that follows you through the game but instead of Pyramid Head he's Cube Head. Then later you have to fight two of them at once.

How I did it on my 2nd try on AKUMU: As soon as the fight starts, dodge the dog, crouch, and throw 3 nades into bushes where it's hiding. It will start limping - shoot it with the sniper rifle until it falls over.

I love the how the story of the main campaign is in Sebastian's point of view so it super vague and when playing the dlc it's in Kidman's pov, who knows more about STEM and Modius so it's more coherent. It's nice depth.

Me too. I loved TEW. I love classic survival horror games but I also like horror shooters like Dead Space 1. TEW laid down some really good ground work and with it getting a sequel, I feel like it will finally take that cool potential and use it to it's fullest.

1 - Is my bro Joseph really dead? I felt a seriously strong attachment to him after his talk about suicidal urges and his conversation with Sebastian about alcoholism and work.
You never see Sebastian post gunshot even though the Doctor and Ambulance Driver [Connelly?] are both shown.

2 - Does Kidman redeem herself in the DLC?
Her constant vague answers and the fact that she fucking shot my partner make me want to kick her fucking ass!

A few E3s ago some game trailer also did that to a Tears for Fears song that also got on my nerves.

I've made a bunch of different bolts, but can only use the shock ones for some reason, earlier I could use the explosive ones - that's how I beat the spider lady the first time but I can't do that anymore.

I have incendiary bolts but can't use them againts a boss that's only vulnerable to fire, great.

The game is pretty buggy, the spider lady got stuck and stopped moving completely a few times I retried the fight but I couldn't kill her without incendiary bolts, I couldn't use even though I had them.

Fuck that, I'll just skip it and load the next chapter because I do kind of like the game despite its flaws.

It's a hit or miss.
If you don't mind all the cheap deaths, you might like it.
Seriously, the game is full of them which makes you completely indifferent to death.
Considering MIkami's trashtalk and how this was going to be his magnum opus, it's pretty shit.
Not sure how far I got until I stopped playing.
I think I was pretty close to the end but I didn't really care about anything.

If you are trying to kill Laura you can just use the freeze/electric bolts to stop her from moving and then start shooting her. In the first fight you can just use the fire traps or time you matches on the dead bodies to burn her with them and then shoot the shit out of her. The last fight you can actually escape if you don't have the ammo to fight her but you have to buy time while the switches are turning off the blocked fire doors.

It's really not hard. You just need to know the start up animation of the matching lighting. Wait until she also next to you and the body and then light it. OR wait for her to teleport via dead bodies and then light it up. She's actually one of the easier bosses when you know your spacing and timing. She can be shot anytime when she's on fire.

Laura won't stand still. Run to the fire trapdoors. Stand next to a body. Wait for her to get close/teleport and light the body up/ and or use your freeze/ lighting bolt. While she is stunned run to the switch and and use it. She will fall into the fire and depending on the difficulty most likely kill her. If not run to the next Firetrap and do the same thing.

It drops pretty fast because there are 1shot/cheap deaths all over the place since there isn't really a danger anymore. There really isn't a mystery since everything is cliche. You can see where everything is going pretty early.

Level design is nice at some points though.
For some reason you can only carry a few matches while you have several weapons with a limit on ammo while you can collect unlimited amount of scrap which can be made into ammo for your crossbow. Enemies drop health whenever you're low.
Some times you're fighting against hordes of enemies and other times you're (supposed to) sneak around but it's a mess.

It's also a bit buggy

The only enemies that can instant kill you are Chainsaw boss, Laura, Sea monsters, Ruvik impersonators and Ruvik. All which are space out. And not even that different than other mikami games like REmake and RE4.

Stealth is just an option. It never required outside the tutorial. It like uncharted games. You can stealth your way through a level but it's not required. It's there so you can save ammo and or take out some enemies to make it easier on you if get into open conflict.

But the game doesn't tell you this. For like two chapters you're conditioned to stealth so you die and die and die learning the game because the checkpoints are too far apart, trying to stealth like you're told, but if you do that in the 3rd, in the boss fight you're fucked. I can understand how many people got pissed off at the sudden unannounced gameplay shift and dropped the game and shat on it.

Shinji Mikami seems to think his games are so fucking great that he doesn't need to explain a bunch of crucial shit at all, people will be so in love with his games, they will play them for so long and not get discouraged, that they will eventually discover all that on their own.

I don't really remember any instant deaths in REmake but RE4 has chainsaw man and plaga-head villagers which you can fight (like shooting in the leg and reposition) and that's it. Maybe that lakemonster if you really hate water

Ruviks just make you die, they don't even do anything ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xkCzthtPNE ). The first time I saw him (I think I was running down a staircase) I wondered what was up with him and just died.

Also there are parts in the game where you die because of puzzles or some shit (like the Sea monsters)

I think it's just the old japanese game designer mentally. Vanquish is the same way. So are Kamiya games like the wonderful 101.

Hunters, Chimera, Tyrant and I know I forgetting more, can all instant kill you in REmake. You are also forgetting Salavar's "right hand" can instant kill you in both forms. So can the "it" boss.

You can out run him(he gives up eventually) and or hide. The Keeper doesn't instant kill.

Not really. I don't think any of the instant killers overlap unless you are playing on harder difficulties. And there's so few puzzles in the games unless you are taking about traps. Traps are risk reward.

It seems it wants to be a hardcore Horror shooter. The instant deaths are at most of the time at the fault of the player and it makes you not want to fuck up and get good. The game takes a Dark souls approach and wants the player to really pay attention. From the combat to the environment filled with death. The only people that think it doesn't know what it wants to be are people that just wanted the game to be what they thought it should be.
