I'm pretty sure they thoroughly planned when games would come out. This year we get Zelda and Mario, next year Kirby, Yoshi, and possibly in Fall Pokemon. Not to mention they can still release Smash Deluxe, or GameCube virtual console.

Smash, Metroid, and Animal Crossing are gonna give Switch an even better 2018 than 2017.

You get everything else, but there are fans of those IP's. Not everything needs to sell Mario/Zelda numbers. Hell, Zelda was niche for a moment.

Well we get Mario and Zelda this year (plus xeno, arms, Mario Kart, and Splatoon).

Next year there's Pokémon and maybe Metroid.

What I'm most interested in is whatever Retro has been working on. It's not Metroid, so maybe a new IP?

Just give me another Pikmin to no-death and an Animal Crossing to turn into a modern town with a street, sidewalk, boardwalk graveyard and football field all made from patterns...

Gamefreak actually developes multiple gens concurrently.

I'd rather have a ton of good games in the first two years than all their best games coming out at the end of the systems cycle.

Also, you know that Nintendo will make another Mario and Zelda game by the end of the Switch. The real question is if the other series will get represented. With Metroid already confirmed for coming back, they've already done better than the Wii U. If they throw out a proper Kirby, new Mario Kart, new Captain Toad and a surprise like Duck Hunt, then the Switch has the potential to be their best system. And they still have 5 years to do all that.
