I liked it. I thought the combat and enemies were unique enough to get a full playthrough. Funnily enough I did all of the side stuff first and ended up steamrolling through the main story. If you aren't burnt out on the open world meme then I would recommend.

Unless a game has "Nintendo" on its label you can just wait like two months and the game will be $40. I got the Day One edition of FFVX for like $40 barely a month and a half after release for example, and things like Gravity Rush dropped to $40 pretty quick.

Real solid game. Really fun combat, actually a pretty decent story with a nice mystery and relatively satisfying resolution, and hunting robot dinosaurs really doesn't get old. The only thing that royally pissed me off is that you can't ride the big dinos. Also, the open world meme kind of hurts it, the world can feel pretty empty at times. Otherwise I thought it was a great game

Sorry not really. I rarely play open world games, though I did try playing Shadow of Mordor afterwards and got completely bored because the combat sucked in it. I like how in Horizon their were multiple ways of fighting the dinos. For example:

I got it for $40 this week myself, only a couple hours in but sorta regretting it. It's got okay combat to muck around with, but I feel like I did all this kind of gameplay in Rise of the Tomb Raider. And having played Zelda a few months ago the open world seems less impressive in comparison.

But I'm still only early in, before that trial you're supposed to take, so my opinion could change.

From what I saw in a video comparing the physics of Horizon and BoTW, they don't even react when you pull out your weapon. I don't remember if they actually used the weapon but considering the low interactivity pretty much everything in Horizon displayed I doubt there'd be a reaction

Problem is, it's really not worth your time.

Ithe isn't a bad game but it isn't great either. I found it mediocre at best. I think it has more negatives the positives.

It'seems very nice graphically. You can go pretty much anywhere you want at anytime, but that can lead you to stronger enemies you're not ready for. You can beat the game in like 20-25 hours, but it will be longer if you go around and do side missions and collectables. Fighting the robot monsters can be fun but it gets old pretty

The animations are pretty terrible. They look stiff and peoples faces can't express emotions very well. You'll do a lot of hunting for animals to upgrade your stuff and that will get boring quick. You'll want to hoard stuff but you won't use most of it. The game doesn't tell you some mechanics of the game and you'll have to look it up or figure if out yourself. Don't listen to the level recommendations, they seem off. Also you'll have to explore to find some villages and side missions.

I would say that it's not worth $40, but that's just my opinion of the game

this game depresses the fuck out of me. i have a coworker who is trying to work his way through a painful divorce by doubling down on the vidya, and this game is one in a long string of disappointments in 2017 for him. he was super excited about this game, talked about it all fucking month before it came out, rushed home early on the day it released to go play for a solid 12 hours, and then never mentioned it again. i think he played this either right before or right after For Honor. Poor guy. One disappointment after another, nothing filling that void that the marriage left in his life.

Oh, and answering the original question, I'd gladly pay 40 bucks if you are playing on a Pro. I mean, I paid the 69 day one bucks and I don't regret it, but I feel like I'm missing something by playing the standard version which is still solid as a marble block.

The only real problem I find in the game is the total lack of humour. Everything is so dramatic, transcendental and serious all the time that I get tired easily.
