What's the appeal of this game?

Not a shitpost. I bought it on sale a while back and just got round to playing it. I was actually having a lot of fun up until a point where I realized it was just a repetitive RNG grindfest and I was running the same shit over and over again.

Then I finally clawed my way to the Darkest Dungeon and got chain crit until all my dudes got tested and every single one of them got a madness.

Again, not making fun, genuinely curious. Do people enjoy constantly doing the exact same thing over and over again till they win via luck?
