DQV is depressing.

Lucus' tragedies came pretty sudden and in quick succession, but that ultimately allows him more time to overcome them. Hero's suffering kept piling on top of him with each passing year.

Is this a joke? DQ5 guy had a way shittier life. Dad and mom were both killed in front of him, he was sold into slavery for a good portion of his life, and he was turned into the stone for 10 years the day after his kids were born. Best part is that he was conscious those 10 years, so he saw his wife sold away (she was also turned into a statue), saw a kid stolen by monsters, and then spent the majority of that time knocked over outside, seeing the seasons change and getting snowed and rained on. His life is pure suffering, which is why any respectable anon made him marry Deborah, who is the best wife.
