What am I in for?

A great time until you reach the lillypad level
Game tries to get a little fancy with its platforming and the engine cant quite keep up.

this, also you can't skip any cutscene when you die so it make the game more tedious
a mediocre, repetitive game that still manages to at least be interesting most of the time.
It's ok,
You'll get frustrated on how ammo works but you'll get use to melee battle and picking your battles when you can

Also save scum or you'll kill yourself
A generic game only remembered because of the protagonist and the unique look/design of the game.
Don't play the second game.
It has nothing but boring platforming and uninteresting combat that lasts forever.

an amazing game
A pretty good game, I'd say the hard parts are not too bad, considering when it came out.
One of the most atmospheric things ever. Sequel completely fucked it up in that regard.
No sure I like the game mechanically, there's too much platforming for a game with a jump this retarded. Bosses are hard as shit too unless you exploit them.
this would have been better off as an rpg or some shit. the atmosphere is great, but the combat isn't that great. would be cool to explore weird shit in this setting.

A mediocre plattformer, that's still better than 90% of plattformers nowadays, bc the only real 3d plattformer remaining is fucking mario.
So, anyone else loves American McGee's games here? No? Just me?

The goddam level with the water and the riding on top of it. That level was so shit. I played both this and part one together in a 18 hour period in a red bull fueled craze, so they both started to merge together. All I remember was a lot of platforming and button mashing. Also, sometimes shooting a giant teapot of hot water. It was a very weird day and night. Felt almost like I'd fallen down a rabbit hole myself.

>American McGee
Started out well then went full retard trying to cash in on the phone gaming fad.
am I retarded or is this game not on steam? the sequel is there but every time I look up the original it's nowhere to be seen.
Did they remove it or something? does it come bundled with the sequel?
The melee sucks, it's more like a shooter with clunky platforming.

Was an incentive to buy Madness Returns on Origin.
There is a way to play the game through the Steam version of Madness Returns, however -- check the community guides for the download.
