Do you talk to every npc in every village, or is it better to just try to whiz through everything?
I usually just skip all the text. If I wanted to read I'd read a book. Text in games is retarded.

I prefer only quest givers be able to speak. If the whole town can speak, then 90% of it will be useless garbage and I'll miss actual quests when I tire of looking

BotW did it right, everyone had dialogue, even sensitive to time of day, weather and other circumstances, but quest givers had a mark on them too.
ofc she'd show her boobs with a shitty face lake that, not that the other two are any better, avoid posting this trash next time

I just googled a picture of somebody who I don't want to talk to but might have useful information.
I talk to every single NPC possible, you never know what you'll get.

NPCs haven't said anything interesting in most games for about 20 years. In most games, they just say something like "It's a sunny day!" or some tutorial blurb. But play a game from the early 00s or earlier, and NPCs are more interesting on average.

Depends on the type of character I'm playing but I rarely talk to any NPC not tied to a quest. Devs have been getting good at making important NPCs really noticeable which is good.

She literally looks like the opposite of someone with something interesting to say.

I talk to as many NPCs I can, until I get bored. Typically, the quest is too fun to put off for long, so I can't spend all day talking to the NPCs.
I don't like rushing from objective to objective either. I want to get a feel for the environment before moving on.
