Zidane's last skill will always do 9999 if you've stolen enough times. The game also rewards you with exclusive equipment that can only be obtained by stealing.
Locke's mug can bypass defense I believe but he gets backrow physical weapons so he can be useful with good damage output.

Last i checked the steal rate was super low. I'm not into wasting a bunch of tirns in a boss trying to steal their multiple items. It sucks having ti rely on that. I actually benched him at the final dungeon (only place you can). Neing second best physical attack is cool but he was doing NOTHING else for me unless he was in trance.

Bethesda says you can play however you want in skyrim but if you try and play like that the enemies scale to your level and if you mostly have pickpocket and stealth you could be in trouble. You cant even train moe than 5 points a level so you can level up from training without fighting draguers or bandits.

Pure physical classes are basically just grunts. That's why most NPCs are non-magical soldier types.

Physical strength wanes. Sickness,fatigue, and old age all wear you down.
When you're locked in a prison for a year and waste away to skin and bones, your "physical prowess" will be gone, but the Red Mage will still be able to conjure oil out of nothing and then set a group of guards on fire to make their mistake.

To pursue physicality at the expense of magic and similar feats is to take the Rock Lee route: You're good for a few acts of heroism, then you're done. Because mana replenishes, but breaking every bone in your body cripples you for life.

The pure physical type is weak.
The pure mage is weak.

You must have a balance.
A Dark Knight without any magic is still a formidable swordsman.
A Dark Knight without a sword can still cast dark magics that drain life from enemies.

An Arcane Archer without a bow can still summon spectral arrows and launch a barrage over cover to hit hiding enemies.
An Arcane Archer without any magic can still fire a conventional bow with accuracy.

Magic covers up any deficiency, but not ALL deficiencies ALL the time.
You learn it so you can teleport your sword to your hand, or bend light around yourself to make yourself truly invisible, or to jump onto a roof you couldn't normally climb, or to put enemies into poor situations you can exploit.

But if ALL you learn are such tricks, you're useless in other ways. A Pyromancer's worth fuck all against a living flame enemy. What good is summoning arrows of light if you're in a cave and any light source will bring enemies running? What good is the ability to bend light and become invisible if you're a clutz that breaths loudly, stomps around, and bumps into things?
