What Metroid games have you been playing/replaying in honor of the recent news?
Metroid 1, game is hard as tits, I'm probably gonna give up and play Zero Mission instead.
I've also got AM2R ready to go.

None just yet, but I've thought about doing a series marathon from start to end.

Keep at it, it's one of the best games from my childhood. Just get use to how floaty Samus is and realize that most of the time that fighting in the early game isn't worth it. Use missiles a lot for tough enemies if they are bothering you, filling up from enemies that fly out of tubes is 100% needed.
Learn how to bomb jump so you can get the Varia suit as well, bosses like Kraid do a ton of damage.
Just finished replaying RoS, got everything except for one missile tank in area 2 I always forget
Final time was 1:28

Hol up, bomb jumping works in Metroid 1? I tried it and it looked like you couldn't plant bombs in the air.
>>380737462
I tried to play Fed Force again because I still really want to like it, but the garbage controls made me quit after a few hours just like last time.
>>380737462
Trying to finish Prime.
My only problem with it is it feels like most of my time is spent walking long distances to get anywhere. I'm ignoring enemies at this point because it just delays me.
Last one I played was Fusion.
I got a bit upset because the game is pretty hard and I could never get the best ending.
None, because I'm about to head out on a trip for a couple weeks.
Plan to play through all 3 Prime games once I get back, though.
I played em all last year [minus Hunters and Other M] for the first time and Echoes was my favorite.
P1 and Super had the best music, Fusion was pretty good too.
Corruption was my least favorite.
I'm playing pic related because of the recent news instead and it's quite good.
Criminally underrated because of an audience that just didn't know what they were getting into.

>hard as tits
Stop fucking bimbos with fake tits. Natural tits are warm and soft.
>>380738939
>Chozo ghosts appear every time you enter their scripted rooms
>just keep walking past them because it's a waste of health and ammo
Pretty lame
>>380737462
I started up AM2R finally. Really wish I got to play it back when it came out along with all my Metroid bros on /v/. Game is fantastic so far.
I think I'm going to go back to Metroid 2, start up a new file, and finally beat it as well.

I've only been listening to lots of Prime music to be frank with you.

I guess not, that's strange. I could swear I remember using bomb jumps to get past some of the one way stuff in lower Brinstar. But yeah, you're right it can't be done in the air.
In any case you can get the Varia suit the second you have the ice beam, just get the waver into the area and you can get it through the ceiling. Ice beam doesn't even require high jump, just jump at the right time when the block is returning and it will push you up. Or you can 'bomb jump', plant a bomb and then unmorph and jump.

Wait, found a vid where someone does it. Yes there is Bomb Jumping, but it doesn't work like the other games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=If-kj1Hu8kQ You wouldn't be able to do it to get to the Varia suit, it's too inconsistent.
does Shantae count?

That's some janky shit, cool though.
I'm playing Prime for the first real time. I feel like I might have fucked up for getting the trilogyon the Wii U virtual consoleas the motion controls feel a bit janky. I'm slowly getting used to it though.
>>380740726
Try adjusting the motion control options to advanced.
>>380740726
I love the motion controls for the Prime Trilogy. But it kind of breaks some encounters. Like the Plant boss. Normally trying to hit the panels meant going around in a big circle, but it's possible to aim right at them with motion controls and still cause them to flip from the front. So you can end the fight in just a few moments.
I got the trilogy while back and finished prime, but less than halfway through the sequel, it got really boring. I just want to finish it for closure, but should i just skip to 3.
I replayed Super Metroid yesterday. It's fucking perfect.
I'm playing that Rotation hack for Super. I can't get the spazer beam because I haven't figured out how to fluidly walljump into a morphball yet.
Never played a Metroid game.
I have a hacked 3DS though, so I'll just play through the main platformers.
Prime 1 and Metroid Mother. It just upgrades the original one with a very primitive map and some other small things

Trying to beat Return of Samus without a guide
I wanted to play through prime again but then I remembered I only borrowed someone's wii for it and gave it back a month ago.
Maybe I'll emulate it.
I'd play something on the 3ds but it's incapable of holding my attention for very long.
>>380737462
The only metroid games I've ever played and finished are Metroid Prime and Other M. I loved Other M and thought it was better than prime in every way.
Not trolling, I just don't get the problems.
I'm just starting zero mission. It's pretty hard, but I'm new to the games. I suck at bomb jumping and it seems like you have to use it all the time.
>>380745979
Other M has good gameplay mechanics but everything else just dull really
That's just my view, others hate it with a passion mainly because Samus' portrayal
>>380746202
Zero Mission is the perfect entry point to the series. Hope you enjoy, anon.
I might try and do another Prime no item or Fusion 1% run.
They are fun, but I usually get stuck on the first phase of Prime or Yakuza
>>380745979
>>380746321
Personally hated Other M because:
Plot was shit
Samus' character was shit
The gameplay could be summed up as "Run through the room spamming light shots, if that doesn't work just dodge for instant powerful shots, if THAT doesn't work, charge the beam and jump on them for instant kill"
Music was forgettable.
Only up side was Anthony.
I fucking love the audacity that the creators thought that the plot DESERVED a movie mode.
