EL PRESIDENTE is BACK!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/492720/Tropico_6/

Trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT0cppN9zv4

Kind of hyped here, bros. Who else pumped, /v/?
>>
>>380731361
>this obvious shilling

you are doing it just for a free copy right
>>
>>380731361

Another longer trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taoeYTsaRMA

>>380731474

I really liked part 4. Part 5 kind of sucked.
>>
It needs more decorations and remove shacks
>>
>>380731361
never played a tropico game

is it like sidmeiers and all those managing empire games?

I want to get into them but they seem too complex, hows this one for a first?
>>
>>380731361
>Poured himself a glass
>Just fucking left it on the table
>>
>>380731735
It plays like Sim-City, but a bit more intense since you have to not only manage infrastructure and the economy, but how your decisions affect your popularity and the popularity of political movements. You're playing as a Dictator, so the main goals are
>make country prosperous
>get re-elected
In any way possible.
>>
>>380731474
I'd unironically shill it for a free copy. Where do I sign up?
>>
>>380731735
As >>380731847 said but bear in mind that natural disasters happen, and also if you have poor relations with a certain faction they might just come and invade the shit out of your island.
You can also have worker strikes if they feel they aren't treated well enough, etc.
>>
>>380731361
why does this trailer have so many "subtle" references to trump? are americans still butthurt?
>>
>>380731361
>Spitter
apt name looking how its actually used
>>
>>380731965
>You can also have worker strikes if they feel they aren't treated well enough, etc.
Haha let me just call the secret police.
>>
Is it different this time? I played Tropico 5 for like one hour because it was the same game as Tropico 4, which was already the same game as Tropico 3.
>>
Oh hell fucking yes.
4 was god-tier, 5 was okay but not nearly as good as 4.

Move it along lads.
>>
>>380731965
>>380731847

seems pretty fun
>>
>>380731735
It's SimCity-like, easy to get into.
>>
>>380731995
I wish this time being actually evil dictator is playable and not sure way to get thrown out.
It was always way easier to just suckoff all fractions than to use oppression and military to get things done.

I just hope this playstyle will be not renamed to "Drumpfs America" in game
>>
>>380732171
>Unreal Engine for management game
Does this mean they actually had to make a new game this time, then? I might actually buy this one. 4 and 5 were just mods of 3.
>>
>>380731569
>Part 5 kind of sucked.

Why ? Because I want to buy Tropico 5.
>>
>>380732135
tbhf that HoMM had just shoe string budget
They can still pull it off looking how last studio made nearly the same game three times.
>>
>>380731995
It's Tropico dude. It's meant as a joke.
You can fucking bet that building a wall will be a decision in the game
>>
>>380732289
4 had the best campaign and expansion
3 had the best radio
>>
>>380732435
Oh, ok.

Yeah, Tropico 4 was really good.
>>
>>380731880
I worked as a translator years ago for a certain publisher and they usually just send me a copy. I need to open a few thread during a week on reddit and /v/, send them the links/screens and thats all.
>>
The old dev team is back on the game. The screen shots and the trailer already looks much better than 5. Hopfully it plays much more like 3&4.
>>
>>380731569
Is that Poncho Sanchez playing in the trailer?
>>
>>380732289

Tropico 5 was a weird RTS game that failed at both the city building and the RTS. They then charged a shit ton of DLC for things that where in the base game of Tropico 1-4.
>>
>>380732519
>>380732289
The strength of 5 was actually making use of your military in many combat events
The Dynasty feels tacked on.
Trade became more active but by that more annoying.
Still it's fun to play if you finished 3 or 4.
>>
>>380732232
Yeah, they never really got the hang of making the gameplay challenging enough so you had to be a dick to succeed.
It was always easier, safer and more profitable to make a democratic wonderland, with social security, well-paid workers and big industry.
... and that can be enjoyable. It's just a shame that you almost have to go out of your way to be a dictator.

Some changes are needed.
Make the parties much harder to please. You shouldn't end up in a situation where everyone loves you.
Make industry harder - perhaps limit it to 1-2 factories for, say, every 200 people on the island. As soon as you start making rum and cigars you can lean back and watch the money roll in.
Make it easier to see where and how materials are being used, where it's being brought to and how much money you earn doing it. This shit should be an overlay setting on the main map. Either provide some easy to read statistics, so you can clearly see what happens for each farm/factory/whatever, or make it easy to see from what's happening on the map (like in the Caesar/Pharaoh/Zeus games).

Still, I enjoy the series. Perhaps this one will fix some shit, instead of being Tropico 3, Tropico 3,5 or Tropico 3,9, like the last three games.
>>
>>380732394
>You can fucking bet that building a wall will be a decision in the game

It'll be something silly, like building a fence to keep llamas out and making them pay for it or something.
>>
>>380732289
>>380732435
>>380732851
The main fix in 5 was
Your goddamn builders go on site and BUILD SHIT
In 4 I always had to pay double for every building just to see it ever finished.
>>
>>380731361
Tropico 5 sucked dick.
>>
>>380732939

I agree. Tropico 1 is the best when it comes to chalanage. It actually feels like you are play a dictator and being a super liberal does not always work. It's actually much easier to go full dictator in 1 than it is to go liberal.
>>
>>380731361
Have been wondering about a new Tropico game recently. I hope it turns out ok
>>
>>380731361
I had a lot of fun with Tropico 3, but I've become tired of this series. They're releasing sequels too quickly, and shoving them full of DLC. Don't really feel like bothering with the franchise anymore.
>>
>>380733449
It's pretty clear they're making them more for profit than because they have something new to add to the series.
They haven't really don't anything new since 3.

>mfw going full military junta in Tropico 1 with installed by KGB coup
>unlimited soldier works
>>
>>380731361
Fairly disappointing, it seems they're doing more of the same, and 6 will be another game full of worthless DLC
Multiple islands and an actual transportation system sounds great, but it isn't much.
I HATE the monuments crap, in Tropico you're supposed to feel like a dictator of a Caribbean island, but then you just plop down the Eiffel Tower and ruin the feel and look of your isle.
What I was hoping for was for a big improvements on building aesthetics, with models that fit better together, and many models for the most common ones such as houses. Looks like they didn't work towards that.
>>
>>380732939
I agree on factions being shit.
There should be fringe elements in each, always plotting coup if they are not oppressed or 100% happy.
The closest thing were Nationalists in 5 that felt like made out of globalist fairytale.
any step toward not doing nothing angered them, meanwhile Globalists were always happy because doing ANYTHING to win made them happy.
Still, angry Nationalist at best killed some migrants (easily replaceable) or started a fire.

From Steam Store:
>Play on large archipelagos for the first time in the series. Manage multiple islands at the same time and adapt to various new challenges.
>Send your agents on raids to foreign lands to steal world wonders and monuments, to add them to your collection.
>Build bridges, construct tunnels and transport your citizens and tourists in taxis, buses and aerial cable cars. Tropico 6 offers completely new transportation and infrastructure possibilities.
>Customize the looks of your palace at will and choose from various extras.
>Tropico 6 features a revised research system focusing on the political aspects of being the world’s greatest dictator.
>Election speeches are back! Address the people and make promises that you can’t possibly keep.

This sounds good, especially the part about transport. That was always a side-note, something that was never interesting or strategic.
>>
Tropico is my guilty pleasure. I am always the guy in my group telling everyone that the next AAA shooter is going to be garbage and recommending every piece of indie pixel art hipster bs.

That being said, I love Tropico games and no one else does except for my buddies house bound wives.
>>
Tropico has been shit after 4. They need to stop with the wacky bullshit and go back to what made the first game good.
>>
New devs? So this isn't going to be Tropico 3 3rd times the charm then?
>>
Tropico 1 is the best game of the whole series and the rest are too easy and aren't worth it imo.
>>
Should I play Tropico 5 or just replay Tropico 4? Haven't played it in about two years. I have all DLC for 4 but none for 5.
I hope Tropico 6 ends up being more original instead of just being Tropico 3 again. And I hope factions are still a major factor. There was no reason not to legalize weed in Cities: Skylines, it just made everyone happy instantly. I want some factions bitching about every move I make while others praise it.
>>
>>380734130
Meh, Tropico 2 is pretty enjoyable.
>>
>>380734118
You mean fourth time
>>
>>380734202
Pirate Cove didn't have any different play styles.
>>
whats the best tropico game?
>>
>>380734182
I think 4 is still better than 5, but when Ive played 4 to death I have to go to 5 for more tropico.
>>
>>380731995
The game has a history of making everyone seem awful for satire. In 4 you could have your character be born ugly and gain a charm bonus with Middle Easterners.
>>
What I really hope they did was reboot the series, and make a game about the colonial time. It was by far my favorite in t, but it was way too short, had few buildings, and lacked gameplay aspects for no reason
>>

>150+ buildings
I wonder if every type of farm goes to this list.
>>
>>380736578
Probably, but that's only ~12 buildings (3-4 meat, cash crops, and food crops).

It's still a good amount for a city builder.
>>
>>380733871
Will you finally be able to deal with the fucking shacks
>>
>>380737335
You need to build houses.
>>
>>380737436
In tropico 5, I'd have like 30 unused houses and 100 shacks, sometimes surrounding houses
>>
>>380733871
>>Send your agents on raids to foreign lands to steal world wonders and monuments, to add them to your collection.
Sounds less like being a banana republic dictator and more like being a wacky super villain. Not too pleased they're spending time on that feature.

Speak clearly. We all voted for El Presidente.
>>
They keep making the same game over and over again. That's sad.
>>
I really loved Tropico 3 but 4 and 5 were nothing but small iterations.

6 at least looks interesting, with the embargo and all that gone and a globalizing Cuba, now is the perfect time to make a new game and shake up the franchise.
>>
Sink hundreds of hours into Tropico 5
Get friend into it
He's so casual he can't get past colonial age because the "time limit is bullshit"
>>
Too bad they will never let us be "evil" and do what real south american dictators do, farm illegal shit to turn into narcotics and ship overseas.
>>
>>380737912
Indeed sounds like crap for Trapico, Mad Genius had the exact same thing
>>
>don't get comfortable with pleasing factions and the people
>all are unhappy
>have to use military
>military coup happens eventually
>always lose the game
and then i found out you could build towers around your palace (which can't revolt) that will protect you against any riots, making other military buildings obsolete
>>
Boy, I can't wait to sit around for another year and a half for all the DLC to be released and then packaged into a Gold Edition bundle.

Which is exactly what I will do.
>>
>>380731569

>>
>>380731361
literally the same game since Tropico 3
>>
How many times can they rehash the same game?
>>
>>380733160
Learn to infrastructure.
>>
>>380737491
I never played 5 but I ran into that often in 4. Some people simply can't afford housing so you need to strike a balance between better wages and/or more affordable housing. Any way you slice it, you're gonna have poor people.
>>
>>380737491
Can they afford your housing? Is the unoccupied housing near their place of work?
>>
>>380741234
>>380741276
When doctor and teacher don't move to a free house it most likely means that they rather live in a shack than walk extra 20 meters to work.
>>
>>380740502
It seems this would be the perfect time to introduce you to the wonderful world of professional sports games in the line of FIFA 2017 and such.
>>
>>380741602
Professional squatters. Rent your low-cost/free government housing for an extra revenue stream to buy more booze and drugs and gamble with.
>>
>>380741603
But for sport games it makes sense since their market is negros, latinos and dudebros
>>
Are the tropico games comfy and or good, i like the setting
>>
>>380741923
Super comfy.
Some to the point of being casual.
Especially if you like Latinos singing.
>>
>>380741923
Tropico 4 is the only one you should play

and yes it's comfy as fuck
>>
>>380731995
/pol/ how can you even be mad at this? A literal shitty banna republic dictator is talking about building bridges and spreading diversity.
Isn't this literally your wet dream?
>>
>>380731569
>shitting on Part 5
Probably just read the shitty translation, good taste on Part 4 though
>>
>>380732289
In many ways it was casualized. For example you could no longer change certain features about your buildings. (Example: Giving a restaurant nicer napkins to increase service quality at the cost of a higher upkeep)
>>
>>380742271
El Presidente is great though
>>
>>380742271
What if I want to build walls and eliminate "diversity"?
In 1 at least closing the border and putting contraception ban in action at least worked.
In 4 with modern times, there was like 5% of citizens with an actual Tropican name, rest was Chinese because it was always far more efficient to kick in more asians.
>>
>Tropico 4
