I like a good speedrun, It's great watching people playing a beloved game as fast and as skillfully as possible.

The only speedruns that I actively don't like as luck-based ones and I think the people who run them are severely autistic in the worst ways possible. Like, straight up on the RETARDED end of the spectrum.

Let me give you an example. The Dark Souls 1 "All Bosses" speedrun is all skill. The current route involves getting the Mail Breaker, Drake Sword, and then the Dragon's Tooth in Anor Londo, all stuff that you just grab along the way and use to kill bosses. Fantastic!

The Dark Souls 1 "Any%" speedrun, on the other hand, is mostly luck. There are two predominant routes and both rely entirely on lucky item drops. You go for either the Black Knight Halberd or the Black Knight Greatsword. You got one-shot at them from a particular black knight respectively and the droprate is low. If you don't get lucky, you have to reset the game, over and over until you get it. That is so fucking asinine. It shouldn't be considered a real category for that game.

You don't need to learn much to pull that kind of thing off, but there's more to it than simply replaying the game and not getting stuck.
