I never cared for 5 much, but it is a legitimate game. As for which is better, I don't even know why you're posting on a polynesian hair-cutting forum asking this when the public opinion on 6 is one of the highest of the series. Better characters, better plot, better villain.

Only thing that's arguably better in V is the fully-realized job system that III started vs the looser magicite system in VI.And even then, that's arguable. I think V's is better, but hey.

TL:DR, play V first if you want to play the better last.

It did. X was the first to ditch ATB.

5 then 6. 6 is considered by many older fans as the best in the series. Usually competing against 7 for which one is best. Newer fans may disagree with that assessment, but 6 does a heck of a lot right. 5 always felt kinda mediocre. Not bad by any stretch if the imagination, just not quite as good as 4,6,7,8,9,&10.

Still golden age material.
