No it wasn't the VGA announcement confused everyone because the game didn't look like Halo, it looked like some shitty generic cross between COD and Gears of War. The Beta pissed everyone off with how shitty it was, don't revision history like everyone liked Reach. Halo 3 was the last true Halo Bungie worked on.

I remember the exact opposite. Reach was absolutely shit on during the Beta and when it first came out. I didn't even buy it then because of all the negative press (maybe not in "professional reviews" but I'm talking about good old fashioned vidya forums). And then it apparently died pretty quickly and Halo 4 had zero hype because of Reach before it.

2 was literally the worst and its cancer has made FPS games bad across the board. In 2 it was about map control, position and weapons/power up timers.

1 was, start with pistol, show us how fucking good you are.

2 was Lunge, bullet magnetism and autoaim.

CE will always beak the series peak in multiplayer. Halo 2 is not online any more, while CE still has an entire page of servers filled.

competitive halo ce was more about map control than you think, especially the power up.

I personally loved Reach, I will never forget all the good times in forge that I had.

If I had to rate: 3 = Reach > 2 (didnt play as much) > CE > 4 > 5

I had 5 for the longest time, got it for christmas. Due to me knowing how garbage the campaign was and how different the multiplayer was (wasn't at all a fan of 4) I literally put it in once and never played it, even then. Ended up selling it to get BotW.
