I still use it for infographs and stuff. I never used it for the community unless you count threads with information in them.

It is still very often the only place to get good information about games, mostly because their guides usually go full indepth instead of just being clickbait shit like 10 WAYS TO MAKE THIS GAME EASIER or THE TOP TEN BEST WEAPONS YOU NEED TO HAVE.

Yea and it's a pretty active community too, but not so big that conversation is impossible like on /v/. It has its fair share of fanboys, but so does every other gaming forum.

Its boards are actually pretty good.

I learned good manners from the official SEGA forums and gamefaqs that adequately prepared me for a career in (You) farming here on /v/.

Obnoxious celebrity posters (aka tripfags), rehashed topics, retarded console war drama, autistic pokemon fans, waifufags, thinly veiled fetish threads, RUINED FOREVER, occasional cool community get togethers (usually tournament series, comfy CYOA threads), obnoxious spammy "roll seconds for effect" posting, really the only thing GameFAGs has that /v/ doesn't have are furries, RP threads, and secret boards, all of which are summed up in /trash/.

I still go there. Somewhat tight community, though I can't really be bothered to keep up with the drama.

I go on there after every conference just to be amazed at how deluded sonybros are. There's a pretty good thread on the PS4 forum with a shitton of them arguing against crossplay.

Often i get on there when playing some old or relatively obscure game if i'm stuck and i want to make sure i'm just retarded instead of there being technical issues.
Lots of playthrough and walkthroughs on youtube now though, but those tend to spoil you easier instead of tactical ctrl f-ing to nudge yourself in the right direction.
Also a higher chance on yt to get exposed to unfunny edgy memesters doing stealth commentary making sure make the experience as horrible and slow as possible.

I play a lot of PS1 and PS2 JRPGs these days and it's practically the only English-speakibg site where you can find in-depth info about a lot of games. Gameplay videos are ubiquitous for every game now but Gamefaqs is the only option for games that are even slightly obscure and older
