This. Shit pisses me off. I don't mind if you have to use a little common sense or it gives you hints, but failing to get a good ending because you didn't bring an item you found in the game to a certain npc at a certain time is complete and utter bullshit(I'm looking at you Parasite Eve 2).

Mass Effect 2 did this decently. You were encouraged to buy upgrades for your ship and do loyalty missions. You also had to send the right people for certain tasks during suicide mission. Using some brains you can figure it out. Parasite Eve 2 however required you to find the teddy bear next to No. 9's motorcycle and give it to flint later on, in addition to making other correct decisions earlier in the game. Fuck that.

I really think games that do the whole "multiple ending" "your choices matter" thing are flawed. making the player aware that there is a "good" and "bad" ending just has them make their choices based on the outcome they want, (which is usually the good ending) instead of the decision they would make themselves.
