I wouldn't mind something that goes beyond the gameplay of terraria. It's fun to play but the game has a very easy to reach end and then you just quit because you've done everything. Sure you can build but what's the point? Without a strong reason gameplay wise to keep going building in 2d doesn't net you much.

No, they said that the work the outsourced studio had done wasn't fun nor good aside from the art assets, and they handed it over to the ones who did the Terraria console ports. Still in development, though it's more or less from scratch, art assets aside.
