As someone who never got a proper chance to experience Everquest, DAoC, Asheron's Call, Anarchy Online, and to some extent FFXI even though I did play it, I desperately wish MMOs, and video games in general, embraced complexity once again.

I think the problem with having gear/stat complexity is that people are just going to optimize so it's a lot of effort on the part of the developer without much payoff because the majority of players are either not going to care or just do whatever the last youtube video they watched told them to do.

I've never understood the argument that just because people will mix-max, that you have to make it overly simple. The world has people who delve into numbers, and those who do not. Should we simplify math so that folks don't have to do algebra or calculus?

Delirium and Scourge being removed is bad, I'll give you that. As is the gutting of Reprisal. Shadowskin and Low Blow is still there.

Unleash potency took a hit but that doesn't mean much when we still have Abyssal Drain. And Abyssal Drain seems unchanged and that was the main skill to use for big pulls, so it looks like DRK is still the king of AoE/dungeon tanking.

Why is /v/ shitting over it? Is it just WARs being obnoxious again?

DRK cooldowns are a complete joke especially with the removal of Shadow Skin. Their ONLY built-in physical mitigation skill is Shadow Wall, which lasts 10 seconds & has a 3-minute cooldown. Compare this to WAR which literally has the same skill but better in Vengeance, on top of Thrill of Battle, Raw Intuition and Inner Beast.

Unless DRK somehow does more damage than WAR I don't see why anyone would want to bring one. DRK has always been a gimp job that only memed their way into Alex progression because PLD couldn't mitigate magic, and it really shows with these changes.

PLD's mitigation for both physical and magical is still way better than DRK and that is simply from blocking alone. Sentinel and Bulwark are just so much better than whatever DRK has. No. DRK was an extremely strong job because Delirium enabled the DRG+NIN comp and nothing beat reprisal. DRK also just so happened to do as much DPS as a WAR OT while MTing on top of being the best mitigator for magic damage by far.

They took all of those away with SB, but they left them with blackest night to ensure WAR got fucked out of progression.
