So now that the dust has settled, which was truly superior?
SNES, easily.
>>380672379
which one had more flops?
no but seriously, we judge previous generations by their exclusives, but we're not allowed to do that today?
really grinds the gears.
it was clearly nintendo
snes
>>380672379
Probably the Super Nintendo. But the Genesis was a solid system in it's own right and you couldn't go wrong with either one.
>>380672379
Snes. What was Sega thinking of having only a 3 button game controller?
Snes also had better games (nintendo developed games were more quality and more types of games. Mario+kirby+zelda+metroid+othershit against...sonic.

when I was dead broke man I couldn't picture this
>>380672379
SNES, only because they had the foresight to allow for all those add-on chips like the SA-1 and the SuperFX.
They were both fine but the SNES had way more games and way more high quality games.
SNES by a mile.
Sound, graphics and games.
SNES and it isn't even close.
>>380672379
Super Nintendo had a much better sound chip and that makes a big difference to me.
I replay the Sonic games constantly.SNES.

Lul
>>380672379
I honestly can't imagine choosing Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis. When I was a kid we were dead broke so I couldn't picture this. Birthdays were truly the worst days.

SNES - Nerds, losers, virgins, autists
Mega Drive - Cool, sports loving radical people
It's the truth
Sega does what nintendon't
>>380672379
The SNES. While both consoles had great action games, sports games, and Alladin games, the SNES' good JRPG lineup beats up the Genesis' good JRPG lineup by a country mile.
Depends what you want.
For Nintendo games and RPGs, SNES.
For arcade-style games and sports games, the Mega Drive.
They both had their gems and stinkers. I'm leaning more towards SNES (especially music and sound wise), but I like both systems.
>>380672379
Mega drive because i like games instead of text based adventures.
Genesis for me, no competition:
Master of Monsters
Shining Force I/II/CD
Dragon's Fury
Lords of Thunder
MUSHA
now that the dust has settled? nigga the dust has settled so bad I need to blow it away again
The snes has a collection of very well polished platformers. The genesis has a dearth of shmups. Both had a smattering of oddball RPGs and other games.
>>380672923
That it was more than the NES had, the Genesis wasn't made to be a competitor to the SNES, it was a "do over" competitor to the NES after the master system flopped.

Wasn't Street Fighter 2 was better in Genesis cause of blast processing?

OK all, say it with me:BLAST
/v/ always says "western games are inferior to Japanese games" and "multiplatform games are inferior to exclusive games". The Genesis was full of western games and multiplats, the SNES not so much. Since what defines the console are its games, then the SNES wins hands down; it has more exclusives and it has every relevant Japanese developer making games for it.
No, Toaplan or Treasure never were, and never became, relevant.
