I have some amount of autism when it comes to Dragon Ball Z games.

I would be really happy about a DBZ fighting game if they just included a short non-canon cutscrene or dialogue saying that for this tournament that everybody's power level is normalized. Like how in the upcoming Tournament of Power they made it so the combatants magically cannot fly over the "ring out" area. Just have an angel saying everybody is capped at a certain power level, so that it makes sense when you play as Krillin and manage to beat Goku. That's all I want.

Making an alt costume in this graphical style is a TON of work. They shade each frame by hand to give it that 2D look, and so making an alt is the equivalent of an entire new character.

I think that we may get some as DLC, but don't expect them quickly or often. If we do get some at launch they will be incredibly simple, like Goku having his Super gi or Majin Vegeta.

In a perfect world we could get some stuff like Yardrat Clothes Goku or Scouter Vegeta, but I'd prefer new characters to alts considering the work they'd need to put in.

No. Powerlevels have always mattered, even in Dragon Ball.

Kid Goku was an unstoppable monster that basically no force on Earth could kill. It was always full of moments where people did their big attacks, feeling remorseful that they had to kill a kid, and then Goku would get up like "ow, that really hurt" and then shrug it off like it was nothing.

He's all but guaranteed, like Piccolo & Krillin. He's really popular worldwide, specifically with his sword, since they brought that back for Super.

I think Future Trunks's design in this game will be REALLY telling for the direction they're taking. If it's Debut Future Trunks with the Capsule Corp jacket and purple hair, then the game will probably be heavily focusing on Z, while if they use his Super design with the blue hair and the scarf, it'll have more of a focus on Super (although Z will take the spotlight).

Toriyama planned to end at Frieza Saga first (hence why everyone's loose ends were being tied up) but he had a burst of inspiration that he managed to work over on his bosses which gave us the Cell saga, which he REALLY meant to be the end.

OK a couple things about this.

1: The english dub caught up to the tournament arc already? How the fuck? The english dub didn't start airing until a year after the JAP.

2: This part of the arc was fucking stupid. Krillin, Gohan, and others were somehow magically keeping up with Goku after only a few days of training and it massively trivialized the SSB and god ki thing. It was fucking retarded.

It's hard to see news for both these games this week and not feel at least a little disappointed in what's happened to Marvel.

When I first heard that Infinite was coming, I still held hope that it'd have a respectable roster and maintain a decent art style with the new hardware we've got compared to UMvC3. What ended up happening was Capcom saying there'd be 6 DLC characters before the game is even released, and there's no X-Men or fantastic 4 characters. People that loved to play Wolverine, Magneto, Sentinel, or Doom will now have to find something else to look forward to.

On top of this, it looks like they've completely disregarded asset quality checks and are rushing this title out the door as quickly as possible. I've never seen Chun Li or Chris Redfield look this ugly, not to mention meth-addict Dante. As a fan of Capcom's past games, it seems utterly disrespectful for them to wheel the game out looking like this, tell us it's on shelves in 3 months, and hope that people get excited about it. DB Fighter Z surprising everyone with such high-quality material to generate hype at the same time just happened to light the fire.

This game looks like it's designed to be easily playable on a stick. 4 basic attack buttons fit on the controller face, and all your mechanic-specific inputs can be done via Triggers&Bumpers/L1L2R1R2 and a couple instances of pushing two buttons at once with your thumb. You build meter fast as fuck. People doing basic bitch combos looks like you build enough meter to end every combo in a level 1 super all the time, real combos will probably build more meter. You gain meter by moving forward as well, plus ki charge goes absolutely fucking stupid fast the longer you hold it, but you're in counter hit state the entire time you charge. Either way, it's definitely a game where they want you to spend bar like a madman, you just have to decide what to spend it on.

It could turn out to all be a flop but from the in depth breakdown interviews I've seen there is more potential for depth born out of the interplay between the gem and tag system than anything in DBFZ, where the way the combat plays out looks relatively homogenized across characters.

Infinite looks like a total cash-grab piece of shit in terms of visuals, sound, writing, its DLC plan, etc. but I do think the gameplay looks solid. The anytime tagging is neat, the Infinity Stones are a solid idea, the new or reimagined characters like Ultron, X & Thanos look fun to play, etc.

Yeah, that's a valid point. ArcSys has a pretty good track record in recent years, Xrd Rev2 and BBCF have been pretty fun to play, with many varied styles in their characters. As a company they tend to listen to their playerbase when it comes to balance, so I'm a bit more confident in how it'll play.

The stones in marvel definitely prompt a lot of tech to be uncovered, which is exciting, but I so dearly wish they had another year to polish some of the models and shaders. It's gonna be really hard for me to hover over Spencer in character select.

Played the demo for MVCI yesterday and it definitely feels like MVC3 apart from no tags. Gem systems offer so much versatility and tricky setups too.
