Why didn't they show off the new 3DS game at all? I'm curious and disappointed

I'd rather have gotten a Pokemon trailer. Or anything new. Today was nothing but repeats and a DLC.

It's a little disappointing but it's not a big deal, they announced a new platformer one with Helpers & mixing abilities for Switch after all. Also the fighting game is coming soon so they'll reveal it eventually, with how many games we're getting we'll probably get our own little Kirby Direct actually.

My guess is that they're going to have a small Kirby-only direct later on for both the fighter and Blowout Blast, and maybe more info on the Switch game.

I bet that the Switch game was only revealed now because Nintendo needed to show a strong lineup for the console (same for Pokemon and Metroid Prime 4).

Take a break from Kirby and play some other games. I think Anthem looks pretty neat from my opinion, and I'm still interested in the Spider Man game since it looks similar to the Arkham series. I like Arkham Origins for their boss battles.

I'm curious and slightly worried about how helpers and the AI will play into the bosses and puzzles, but it should be fun non the less
Will Arena let us do 4 helpers or limit it to two? Will they be worth bringing in this time around? But it should open up a shit ton of options for Arena runs, specially multiplayer ones, not just what abilities and helpers to run but what fusions to run as well

I really love that the Whispy fights are never the same as the previous one (well aside from TKCD), and have their own unique fight style. Planet Robobot was insane in he had THREE phases put into him. And Mass Attack has him growing taller in order to avoid taking damage, which was also a neat concept too.

This new game looks like an HD Return to Dreamland. Kirby hasn't taken any real creative risks since Super Star, Amazing Mirror, and Air Ride. Now the series is playing it safe and it really shows.

they took their risks with kumazaki's games
all three were based around a gimmick (super abilities, hypernova, robobot armor)
now they're bringing back ability fusion and helpers, two of the most-loved aspects of previous games

and it looks absolutely beautiful

though if kirby smash ends up getting announced i hope the helpers will be a part of it

Tbqhmf, the gimmicks in those games were relatively similar. They were all basically "touch a MacGuffin and now you play through a set-piece where you can break really big blocks and kill 20 enemies at a time", only with different animations.

Kirby Switch looks amazing, though. It feels really close to that unreleased GameCube game, which is all I've ever wanted.

Air Ride Modoki definitely has the same concepts of Air Ride but it really doesn't /feel/ or really /look/ like Air Ride. For mine, I want it to look and feel as much like the original as possible.
For example: in Modoki, the drifting is pretty janky and weird. Drifting was super important in Air Ride and Modoki didn't capture that. I'm going to do it right.

With what team? HAL only has so many employees and the past decade has shown a trend of stacked development, each game taking about 2 years to make with one releasing each year.
As soon as Rainbow Curse was done they moved onto the upcoming 3DS game and are ready for this year (2 years since RC), and halfway through that game robobot was done and its team moved on to make the Switch game, which will be ready 2 years after robobot and looks just like the games this team has been making back to back for years on this very schedule. And sure, pre-production starts earlier and before a project is done but its also always like this

There will be overturned and abandoned minecarts and props as well as a vehicle that you can use. The rail system will be clear though. No carts on that. The Great Cave Minecart will be a vehicle that I'm super excited about. It'll get faster when going downhill and it's turning will get worse the faster it's going.
