Let's analyse what's been shown so far:
- It's being developed by a new formed team inside EAD.
- Tanabe is the producer (Some people don't like him)
- Retro is not involved, neither are the key people that worked on the other Prime games
- The last two Metroids (Other M and Federation Force) were terrible according to fans
Now, I never played any Metroid, so I'll probably find this one good if the reviews are higher than eighty and if it looks and plays nice. But I can't see it living up to peoples expectations, everything is pointing to this being a completely different game than the Prime series, people are expecting a lot from this sequence but I think they will make huge changes/westernize this series and it will be as hated as Other M and Federation Force.
Even if the game is good, I can see a lot of people still complaining that they were expecting something amazing and comparing it to the other Prime games pointing out flaws and major differences. There is literally no "win" situation for this game, unless they manage to make a fucking excellent game, but I wouldn't expect that from a new team at all.
Thoughts?
Why is /v/ ignoring me?
GO FUCK YOURSELVES
i have no expectations. this way i'm always pleased

>Retro is not involved
It will be shit then.
The only reason why it was good was because it was made by westerners

My feeling is basically this for Prime 4 and Samus Returns.
Nobody expected shit from Retro with Prime. I don't care who makes it as long as it turns out good.

We can only hope that this new team is as talented as Retro once was.

Source? I've yet to see any confirmation on the team (other than it being Not Retro.) The Climax rumor from before sounded plausible enough. Either way, EAD is pretty much the part of Nintendo that puts out actual quality for the most part. Tanabe was the producer on the other Prime games so that's irrelevant. Other M wasn't a prime game. Fed Force technically was with the title but it was fairly obvious that it was a pet project of Tanabe's that Nintendo slapped the Metroid name on in a botched attempt to appease the fans. (The fact that it began as Blast Ball should say enough.)

You should play the trilogy, because you'd realize that almost everything you just said could be said about Prime 3. Prime 3 is a pretty big departure from the first two games; it's much more linear, has escort missions, etc. but in spite of that it sold well, people bought and liked the game. And it's fairly obvious it was done that way because Retro didn't want to make Prime 3 a rehash, so handing it off to a new team is probably the best way to get fresh ideas on the series. Unless it's a total abomination most fans are glad to have a Metroid game on the console; outside the burst of Prime games they're quite scarce.
No metroid prime game has ever lived up to expectations.

They probably want to develop Metroid internally and create a specific Team just for it, like the Zelda team, Mario team, Animal Crossing team, Splatoon team etc, I think they want to make Metroid one of their flagship titles now.

I will probably buy the trilogy on the Wii U VC, but what are the chances of them releasing those games in HD for the Switch?
