Consoles are dead in Japan. Japan never gave a fuck about MH when consoles were still alive over there either. They only care about it on portables. It's in a console that nobody in Japan wants (PS4) that only as of last year surpassed the DOA Wii U in sales there. MH isn't going to move consoles. Especially a western-focused MH.

The only loser here is Capcom. They just killed their franchise. Westerners won't care about it and the Nips will pass.
