Are XCOM games worth a playthrough?

it's hard af and i start over everytime i'm screwed because i play Ironman. so it's a lot of playing the first 4-5 missions, only to realize that you're screwed by the 5th because you have too many noob troops or you screwed up resources somewhere.

in the first Xcom you kinda could just build shit willy nilly. in Xcom 2 you have to prioritize heavily what is and isn't built because resources are really scarce.
