I did play Dragon Quest 1 first, and that was a much better game. It didn't have much content but I liked the simplicity.

In DQ2 you often don't even know what you are supposed to do, you need a guide.

I didn't like the game until I played the mobile port.

3 Is better. 5 is great.

That's how gaming worked back then. Games were either so simple even a braindead child could finish them or so complicated that you needed a fucking guidebook just do make some decent progress. There was nothing in between.
