I dont think it looks like shit, but its not otherworldly like so many people are making it out be. It looks like it could be cool, but also like they are trying to cram so many different setting and themes into it that it wont feel like a classic 3d Mario title. Kinda like BotW was with Zelda. Even though I loved BotW and it had tons of awesome qualities, they stripped away the biggest memorable aspect of the series- Dungeons. I get the vibe they are doing the same with Mario.
