I've already clocked over 60h, and I'm nooowhere near finishing it.

70 Hours so far. I might play some more when I am caught up with my backlog to finish up shrines and side quests and then some more for the DLC.

I have at least 100

Im really enjoying the game. Honesty around the 10 hour mark I just stopped worring about doing things like quest etc and just explored. Seriously every time you just explore you'll find something new. Now I hate when fags say you need to play a game a certain way but I do think if you rush through it you really kill the experience for youself. Now I'm not saying it's perfect because it's far from it but it's on my top 5 for sure. But I cant wait to see what else they add. Hard mode and all that seems like it'll be fun.

~150 hours
Had a lot of fun exploring the world and finding the shrines. I had found 118 shrines, did one last go around the world map (focusing on blank map areas of course), but eventually had to look up the last two after hours of finding nothing. They were the Kakariko sidequest shrine and the heat challenge one on Mt. Nabooru (I think that's where it was).

Also real nice cherrypicked image. At least pick an image of the same field, which does have flowing grass in the final release of the game. Even if its not as detailed. But of course, that would require you to have actually played the game and know what you're talking about. Not just parroting chertypicked images.

>bullshots have never existed

I would say the main story is the weakest element for me seems like the only area I really enjoyed were the gerudos which still felt a little lacking, I wish we could see more behind the scenes because I feel like they could have put more time into it. But then again Zelda is never a super story driven game especially thus one. And those awful va. Shame we didn't get the different languages right off the bat. But besides that I've had absolute fun with the game. If you just dick around and see what you can find, and just immerse youself in the game it's great. I can't wait to see if they add new areas. I would love them to go crazier like a lowrule or majora mask kinda style on dlc. Still haven't beat Ganon and I have no intention of beating him but how far in his castle can I get without triggering him?

should have been set to pro on the start and let you change it by looking in the menu

pro not only takes away HUD elements but makes you use your surroundings and environment to tell what is happening and what is going to. for example, you can tell when its going to rain by watching the clouds and obviously when the time of day is.

moving slow makes little sound, but wearing iron or steel makes you louder even when moving slow by it clanking around. sadly isn't effected by armor, so wear whatever you want.

even then, in the thunderstorms, you can just toss your metal shit around because it sparks letting you know it is doing something and use it as a lightning attraction for fighting. i toss a bunch of shields around and use them for defense via lightning bolts.

even the temperature is noticed when your too cold, link shivers and when hot link sweats and wipes his brow. so many little things i noticed way more by using pro mode.

I'm at 45 jours, 2 minibosses, 50 shrines, 9 memories, 70 koroks. Game is fun but the combat is way too easy, and I don't like any of the 4 character designs of the races: zora's have a literal fishhead, birdpeople are extremely generic, fat ones talk like niggers and the gerudo look like ugly female bodybuilder (crazy tan included).

Exploring is extremely fun though. So far, a 8.5/10

Thats just it though, I purposely took my time and thoroughly explored the world on my first playthrough. I went out of my way to explore every nook and cranny, did every shrine, close to half of the korok seeds, and essentially every quest except for just a couple before facing calamity gannon. Im not saying I didnt miss stuff, but nowhere near enough for me to want to scour the area again, at least not any time soon.

So what is actually up with the whole "calamity" plot device? All you ever see is a thunderstrike behind some mountains that presumably levels the schoolyard-sized Castle Town. Where is the world on fire? Also why is Hyrule so underdeveloped? I was expecting sprawling cities and whatnot. Obviously each one not the size of Assassin's Creed, but come on. These are laughable even compared to Todd's handiwork.

For a reveal as cool as Calamity/Cloud Ganon, the end result was so disappointing. Nobody has any personality and there isn't an ounce of heroism to be found.

>Blood Moon isn't a constant world state that is progressively cleared up as you cleanse the BLIGHTS

I wasn't specifically going out of my way to find korok. I just found them naturally as I explored. People have a real stick up their asses about them but they're fine and they're handy as fuck for expanding your inventory, as long you're not an autist who needs to find every single one. Best not to even worry about them, you'll find more than enough without even trying.

Currently at 50 hours and 100 shrines. I've discovered three of the beasts but after Hateno institute or whatever it's called I haven't done a single story related mission. Haven't done a single side quests apart from really obvious ones as well.

I looked up most shrine locations though as I don't like walking around in open world games.

I wonder how long the game is going to take me, but I doubt more than 80 hours.

This is actually one of my favourite things about the game; the player is free to make their own methods of survival and exploration, you're not pigeonholed into having to accept a specific way of doing anything. There were plenty of times when I found myself kind of stuck I figured I must be some item or ability to proceed (because that's what gaming conventions have taught us) but after just experimenting a little I was always able to fashion a solution. Fucking game is incredible.

About 50 so far. So far the game is really fun. Only problem is I wish there were more bosses in the game. The only boss which actually gave me trouble was thunderblight ganon. Calmity and the other divine beast ones took 1 try to beat. Lynels are pretty fun too, so I wish they had included some more difficult bosses.

Flurry rush is also kind of overpowered. It takes a little to get used to, but once you do you can take down basically anything. Game would have been better if they had taken it out and instead made more bosses and fixed enemies like thunderblight who I dont think you can beat without flurry rush.

I think he's talking about the environment. For me, this was one of the first games where the thing in the environment were actually useful. usually games that say its open world dont relaly utilze the environment as well as BOTW did
>>
>>380648220

I'm the guy you're quoting and I agree. I certainly wasn't mad that I had to use all that food. I actually felt like it was a survival mechanic. But now that I know there's cold gear, I will go for it before I do the mountains next time.

The only time I got annoyed in BotW was having to lightning resistance when all those Lizafos are shooting me with lightning arrows. And the rubber gear is the hardest thing to get so I doubt anyone will have it before Zora's Domain.
>>
>>380648549
Name one Action Adventure game where you can climb like in BOTW. Then find me one with climbing and gliding. And then one with both of those and a chemistry engine like BOTW.
>>
>>380648549
You're a fucking idiot. How are you going to reach that snowy peak? Will you put your warmer clothes on? Will you cook some hot meals so you can survive? Will you risk the benefit of your strongest armour in the cold? Perhaps climbing gear for faster ascending? How about equiping a fire element weapon to beat the cold? Even just light a fucking treebranch on fire and leech off the heat?

That's just one situation which offers multiple ways to tackle it depending on what the player has to hand or how they want to strategise things.

Depends on what you mean by 'like BotW'. Even NES and GB games had the ability to climb vertically. But they're not 3D like BotW.

>>380648819
The whole combat system is underdeveloped as fuck, I actively avoid fights because they are so boring. You don't even have to run away because most enemies will never have the speed to keep up with your normal walking animation. Oh and the enemy variety is a complete joke. Why are almost no humanoid enemies? I wish they had included something like bandits camps from Horizon Zero Dawn. But it's always the same goblin, lizard, rock, bat etc.
>>
>>380649680

Like everything else, fans made a mod in Skyrim where environment has an effect. But Zelda is already ahead in this because it was in the base game. As well as about 100 other things Skyrim didn't have without mods.

BotW really is what Skyrim should have been.

Not that much actually. I got distracted playing a bunch of other games and I've been meaning to go back and just put a bunch of hours into BotW.
>>
>>380637361

160

just missing the all the horse gear and a shit ton of koroks but those horse mini games are impossible and collecting koroks lost its appeal...maybe when the dlc pulls me back in.
>>
>>380637361

We over a hundred hours, 100% percented it without a guide. (Only stuff I don't have is the locked content)
>>
>>380637361
140 on Wii U. 40ish so far on switch. Which ill buy the dlc for.
>>
>>380637361
A bit over 80 hours. Finished the story and got all the memories

I have something less than 30 shrines left to complete but i decided to let them be for now so in the next months i have one more reason to get back to the game, alongside the DLC
>>
About 5 hrs and this is already my favorite Zelda of them all. This what Zelda should've been from the start. It kind of was with the first two NES Zeldas, but in a limited way.
>>
>>380649848
Thats true. I've noticed myself doing that too. Once you have some nice weapons, theres no incentive to fight. Most of the regular mobs are extrememly boring to fight( I enjoy the elemental and jumping lizalfos), so I just go looking for a lynel. BOTW needs more complicated enemies in general. Bosses + more complex mobs. The moblins are boring once you fight them a couple of times. It would be nice to fight mobs with some unique charactersstics, like the lizalfos(jumping breathing elements).

As many as in researching transitioning, 0 since I'm not trans.

It was. Aonouma has publically stated this game is a return to Zelda 1. Most of the areas, enemies and concepts in the game are based on Zelda 1, 2 or Link's Awakening.

Over 300h, picking all the koroks now!

>>380651295

Pretty awesome. Do we know yet what timeline BotW takes place in?
>>
>>380642706
Unless you enter the sanctum he won't trigger. Why don't you want to beat him though? After you do, it just reverts back to right before you enter the sanctum
>>
About 200 hours, trying to get the 3 monster medals now.

100+

All the shrines, all the side quests
>>
>>380651719

Based on the story, it seems to be well after any other Zelda game (the story plainly says it takes place 10,000 years after Ocarina of Time). I hope they use this opportunity to reboot the series and just go away from the timeline crap entirely. Return to the original idea that each Zelda game is a retelling of the same general story in a new way.
>>
110 hours, finished all divin beasts and half the shrines.

Waiting for both DLCs to drop so I can carry on exploring the couple areas I haven't touched yet.
>>
>>380637361
How do you check again? I think it was like 150 hours or something, I stopped cause I wanted to get the walk tracker thing before I passed 200 hours.

The shrines are all pretty easy and fast if you know what to do.

Only one I dread doing over is the golf one, I lost so many good weapons on that bullshit.

My first run was a 3 heart run, (I pawned all my heart containers away for excessivel wealth.)

It was challenging but very fun relying on stealth, ambushes, sniping and disguises. I got one shotted alot but enjoyed utilizing all the prep time.
>>
still haven't played Majora's Mask and Wind Waker. what do
>>
>>380637361
285 hours, I think.
>>
>>380653074
Each (main) Zelda game pretty much stands on its own. Playing one before the other shouldn't impact your enjoyment.
>>
>>380651127
They are missing humanoid enemies. Give each region one bandit camp which is controlled by a local boss. I'm just coming from DS3 and the combat system of BotW is really laughable, you don't even lose stamina when you just hit enemies with a normal attack. It's very underdeveloped. I guess it will stay that way because Nintendo is trying to appeal to everyone.
>>
>>380653074
Wait until they port it to Switch.
>>
>>380652202

I kind of like the timeline stuff.. it gives the whole series a story instead of each game being entirely separate from one another.

It feels like this would be in the Wind Waker timeline sometimes but who knows.
>>
>>380637361

2 hours then I never played this piece of shit again
>>
>>380649848
There are human enemies, did you even get to the gerudo town?
>>
>>380653074

Both good. Play them eventually.

Majora's Mask 3D is the best version of the game, as well as Wind Waker HD.
>>
90 hours, finished and re-playing it.
>>
>>380654062
Yes I encountered about five archers there and that's it. And every 10 hours one (1) bandit attacked me on the road.
>>
>>380654043

What makes this a piece of shit?

You're probably burned out on open world games and just lashing out, because I think BotW is great. I don't play too many open world games so now that I'm playing this, I'm having alot of fun just exploring.
>>
>>380649618
you imply that players who enjoy features from BOTW like gliding and climbing would be better suited to play these mysterious older 3d action games which are just as good and feature them
>>
>>380653942
If it helps, one of the cutscenes, Zelda herself specifically references OoT, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.
>>
>>380652202
>10,000 years after Ocarina of Time
Ocarina of Time didn't have Divine Beasts and Guardians.

>Return to the original idea that each Zelda game is a retelling of the same general story in a new way
I'd rather them be entirely different stories with only Link and Zelda as recurring characters, switching between Hyrule and other lands every 2 games or so.

I don't want to sound like a Souls shitter but the series would really benefit from delivering its story/lore through simple interactions with NPCs and items/location descriptions.
>>
>>380654335
They'll always attack you if you have bananas. Not even kidding. They love bananas.
>>
>>380637361
20. My back gets sore sitting on the couch playing consoles so I burn out quick, but it seemed like a pretty damn good game for what I played.

>Depends on what you mean by 'like BotW'. Even NES and GB games had the ability to climb vertically.

Are you fucking serious?

If you just want to hate them game then fine, hate away. But don't make up completely nonsensical statement which make you sound retarded.
>>
>>380652202
>the story plainly says it takes place 10,000 years after Ocarina of Time
No. Like, 3/4th of the Divine Beasts are named after sages from OoT, meaning they were made after OoT, meaning OoT was an unknown number of years before the war 10k years ago, meaning all we know of BotW's timeline placement vis à vis OoT it's that it's >10 100 years later

>I'd rather them be entirely different stories with only Link and Zelda as recurring characters, switching between Hyrule and other lands every 2 games or so.
But that's basically what I was saying. Zelda 1-5 was that. I wasn't saying that each new Zelda needs to be the exact same story of Zelda 1/LttP repeated. Miyamoto's original idea was that every Zelda game was just 'a story told around a fire by your grandmother'. But whil each game repeated ideas like Zelda and Link appearing, even early on the stories changed settings and locations a lot.

The idea is that the story changes depending on who is telling the story. Like a crazy grandpa who starts off telling you the story of Snow White, then it devolves into a crazy story about dwarves fighting dragons and defeating an evil witch.

>I don't want to sound like a Souls shitter but the series would really benefit from delivering its story/lore through simple interactions with NPCs and items/location descriptions.
I totally agree.
>>
>>380655067

>But don't make up completely nonsensical statement which make you sound retarded.
The irony is that you are the one making a nonsensical statement. Because I never said I hate BotW. And I was specifically pointing out to someone that you can't find a game that does climbing 'exactly' like BotW did.

Holy shit this thread is full of defensive idiots.

I love how there's so many approaches to situations. I never thought there'd be creativity in puzzle-solving in Zelda, but they really made general-purpose tools and let you go wild. Revali's Gale is too good, but it's still a wonderful design all things considered.
>>
>>380654672
>Zelda herself specifically references OoT, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.

So this is on the adult timeline (TP). Interesting..

Having the Koroks here make it confusing but it's all good.
