director has the vision and sets the tone
producer organizes and executes that vision

It doesn't matter, because nobody here actually knows what the exact dev process of a certain game is like, so they credit all of the good decisions to a developer that they like, and use one they don't like as a scapegoat for everything bad about the game.

Producer is more oversee

So in terms of games going shitty/good blame both the director and producer. Director for having a direct hand and the producer for hiring the director
