But being able to get money with mods is only going to make the modding scene even more terrible than it already is. There is a crap ton of autistic drama even when real money is not involved.
A lot of mods (not your shitty horse armor) also depend on countless of other mods by multiple authors. Last time the SkyUI devs wantend to put their mod behind a paywall even though thousands of mods depend on it. And then there was that guy who sold some shitty fishing mod that used animations from some other guy.

Paid mods are not going to kill the modding community but they will hurt it a lot. Go make your own game if you want money so desperately. Making mods should stay as hobby projects.

If people want modders to get paid, they're more than welcome to donate to the modders. The Nexus even has a button that directly links to the modders' paypal or patreon for exactly this. Bethesda just wants to take 75% of that payment for themselves for no reason whatsoever. None of the arguments in favor of paid mods work at all because everything they're looking to do is already being done in a much better way.

Adding money to the mix serves to cause shitstorms on a greater magnitude. Bethesda already got their due pay, which was the price tag of the game. The game's lifetime also got extended thanks to communal efforts, resulting in added sales. They even get free patch support, fixing stuff they themselves didn't do right. They shouldn't get money for other people fixing their mistakes. Various mods that infringe on copyrights of existing properties are tolerated because they don't make money. There's no guarantee for mod support. There's no guarantee a mod doesn't get broken with a new patch, yet they want to make it paid content.
