I'm just finishing Morrowind, did all the main quests, just making comfy homes now and patching up minor quests and becoming leader of all factions.
Is Gothic II also worth the trouble of installing and modding it, like MOrrowind? I spent at least a week modding Morrowind, and I imagine Gothic II would take as much time to get it to look decent.

shitty, terribly cringy "romance"
you can't sex your pink haired pseudo-sister
all companions are bread and butter tropes, very boring
combat is broken as fuck, you get a level 5 spell (breach) that basically is the best spell in the game, when you have many more higher level spells
npc ai is terrible
pathfinding is terrible
Now, all the combat mechanics and enemy AI can be improved with mods, making the game a much better experience.

>>380628708
Plays like a shitty low budget RTS and blindly sticks to D&D rules at the expense of fun and convenience you'd expect in a video game. Unlike the cohesiveness of BG1, the story is a mess of thematically unconnected segments that you slaughter your way through while chasing an emo elf to stab him in the dick for stealing your Shadow the Edgehog persona. Romance options start grabbing your crotch the second you talk to them. While writing and voice acting peaks at excellent, the average of it really isn't, and some literally channels the gods of cringe.

Tried to look hardcore but plays everything ultra-safe.
The only companions who talk like actual human beings are zombie gradma and foreign muslim Borg.
Tried to make interesting tactical combat, but developers openly admitted they can't stop slurping d&d smegma and made mages overpowered on purpose.
Mechanics don't work well for most of the game due to inept core math.
Some crucial abilities arbitrarily gated behind character level.
Painfully generic evil hordes that we are supposed to believe are an immediate threat, but we spend more than a year in-game dealing with heaps of Loghaine's domestic shit while the whole war against the Blight happens off-stage.

>>380635504
Bioshit is gay and despite the polish this game had I'd have rather seen NWN3 and not a blatant D&D ripoff with shit classes and american sitcom tier humor which ruined it completely.
>>380647945
The only way Origins could have been more sterile, formulaic and boring was if it were NWN3. You'd be stuck in a shit D&D setting (FR again probably) with its shit history and shit mythology and shit sacred cow mechanics, and you'd still have all the problems Origins had on top of that.

Of all the Pools of Darkness, the Moander one was the hardest. The Bit O Moander were the toughest SOB's in the game, were only vulnerable to Magic Missiles.
Palladin's rocked in this game, but level 40 mages made all the difference at the end. A properly positioned Delayed Blast Fireball was like a nuclear bomb. So satisfying.

If you ignore all their OC in the extended editions, they're pretty much fine.
Their OC is tolerable at best, and at worst encapsulates the absolute lowest forms of fangirl writers trying to emulate their fandom.
Dragonfire Pass was just an abortion through and through, aside from their genuinely impressive efforts to reunite the voice cast. Pity they wasted it by trying to make Safana the star, despite the fact that she's one of two characters who tries to kill you of her own free will in the sequel.
Protip, Beamdog; when you know a character will try selling you and her husband out to psychotic monsters, it's best not to use them as a hero figure.
