I'm kinda curious as to what set Majima over the edge from a cool & collected ex-Yakuza into what he becomes in the later games. Been entirely dependent on LPs of the game since I don't have a PS4

He started as just a zany mini-boss, but Japanese polls kept placing him above real characters, so he kept getting added to games.

In Yakuza 0, he chooses a crazy persona because the people that went against the rules were the people that helped him survive.

In Yakuza: Kiwami, Goro randomly jumps Kiryu to help improve his fighting skills, so Kiryu will be able to survive with blood vendettas against him.
