Where the FUCK is the PC release or current console remaster?
Unfortunately, never ever, my friend. Just be happy it happened.
PC version got cancelled years ago. Sega lost the code to Skies of Arcadia so they can't do anything unless they do a total remake.

>>380620516
I wanted to point to Grandia 2, but then I remembered it was released for PC ages ago and this latest Steam version is just that fixed a bit. No such luck with SoA, sadly.
>>380621394
How do you just lose code
>>380620516
my dream game project is a skies-like with sega-saturn-style grafix anda story just like Chulip, but on sky boats
>>380622159
Japan loses code all the time. Back in the day, they had a habit of deleting their code when they finish a game to prevent poaching or otherwise make room for the next game.
>>380622159
Storage was expensive. Also, it never occurred to anyone games would be remade in the future, I guess.
>>380620516
It'll be out by 2020. Believe it. They said they want to revive old IPs by that time.
One of my pie-in-the-sky dream games right now is Skies 2. That'd be something if Sega busts that one out.
>>380620516
>Sega
>Making non-Sonic games
Where are we getting a port of this game
>>380620516
Never.
If they do that, they might try to make a sequel.
But they will never recapture the lightning in that bottle.
Just let Skies shine on as the greatest JRPG ever made. Let it live in its place in history without trying to resurrect it.
AND PLAY IT ON DOLPHIN
>>380621550
This guy gets it - just emulate. You can upscale, get a couple of mods going and then you're golden.
>>380625349
>Let it live in its place in history without trying to resurrect it.
It's one of the very, very few things left from my childhood that hasn't been raped for profit
>>380621394
So I'm no computerologist, but why couldn't they just dump the code from an existing ROM of the game, or something?
>>380627048
I'm only a mild computerarian, but I imagine because that's the compiled code, not the source.
>>380623012
My friend and I have been joking about Skies of Arcadia 2 for years. Every once in a great while, one of us will message the other saying "SKIES OF ARCADIA 2!!!" Or something similar, and even though we both know it's not true, we have to check.
One time I texted it to him while he was travelling abroad for work, and he had no way to check if it was true for like a day-and-a-half. It was torture.
>>380622159
It was relatively common back in the day. I mean, if the game is already released, what do you need the code for at that point? Games weren't patched back then.
>>380621394
>they can't do anything unless they do a total remake.
Well really, that's what they should do. The game could certainly be expanded upon. I think I'd rather see a sequel than a remake, but I will take anything I can get. I don't even give a fuck if it sucks, then I'll just pretend it never happened, but it feels like a shame that such a promising game concept has been stagnant for 17 years.
I'm not even sure why I want a remake. The graphics on the original are still great. I think that era of polygons is charming as fuck. Enough detail to make things feel real, but not crossing into the uncanny valley that we still haven't quite escaped.
>>380625627
>couple of mods
like what?
You ask for Skies of Arcadia 2
What goes wrong?
>>380628363
I know there's one that replace the sprites on the menu screen
There may be others but I'm a consolefag so I only know from screenshots posted here

>>380627873
Sky islands are just an underused concept. The most you get is a single small zone/area in an otherwise generic fantasy scape.
When I saw the SoA level in Sega racing, I teared up
You could really see all the attention to detail that was put into that stage, from the soundtrack to the setpieces. I nostalgia'd hard.

Just finished a playthrough last month, had an absolute blast and tons of non-nostalgia based fun.
What is it like to be so wrong anon?
Is it like... a burning need to express how wrong you can be at every moment? Or is more like a hollow pit ever collapsing in on itself and growing in size in scope of wrongness?

It wasn't just you. The original game's designer and producer, Rieko Kodama, broke down in tears as well when she saw the SoA track.

That's what Microsoft did with the recent Phantom Dust rerelease. They lost the source code, so they had to reverse-engineer their own game. This means any potential DLC for the game will be incredibly hard to do.

>>380633540
There's a couple throwaway lines by Aika and some non-party character I forget that basically implies they take turns fucking Vyse and are chill about it.
Any decent examination of their characters would suggest the simplest explanation. They all fuck together.
I wish I could post R34.

Most of the people that worked still work at Sega.
Is that a guarantee these days? Seems like from Yooka Laylee and others, veterans are not a sure thing for a game that will be satisfied with
>>380628551
It can only be funded through Kickstarter
>>380641293
The game sold like crap. All one should expect is a port of the original.
The original creator might not want to do a sequel.
>>380643294
I think it would get lots of nostalgia hype
they could test the water with a remake and see how it sells
a sequel, right now, might be nothing more than a prestige project for sega at this point (or the opposite if they fail quality wise and jump the shark)
