ITT Games only you played
>In English atleast
>>380618361
is this that game where some kid siblings imply sex with each other? never heard of it
>>380618361
It looks pretty cool
If you were on /v/ a few years ago, you'd get plenty of people who'd played it.
These days though all you get are underage and shitposters.
Rule of Rose was neat but controlled like shit.
>>380618964
>>380619242
It's a collectors item now, one of the few horror games that genuinely disturbed me. Atleast the majority of it, the "Dog" ending was kinda unbelievable, but every other chapter was great.
Imagine Lord of the Flies but even more creepy
>>380618361
Played that, too. One of my favorite PS2 games.
>>380619460
>Rule of Rose was neat but controlled like shit.
To be fair, that's what every survival horror game played like in the PS2 era.
Anyway, games only I've played...
Child of Eden
Shadows of the Damned
El Shaddai
KuOn
PN03
There are more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
People only had this game to hack their PSP
>>380619973
RoR controls are specially bad though, still an amazing experience though, also posting best girl Diana fags need not apply.
>>380620259
Wasn't it 1 that people used for hacking. That pissed me off because I wanted the game to play and I couldn't find a copy back in that day.
>>380621547
This was FOTM in here near a decade ago.
>>380618361
I beat it and it was atrocious
the cool symbolism and rape theories on the wiki and youtube are the most interesting thing about it.
GOAT
>>380622426
THiCC
>>380622784
Surprisingly good game.
Better RPG than most dogshit that comes out nowadays.
>>380622829
The combat is pretty bad, but the dog mechanics are cool and I wouldn't want to experience the story through an wiki article.
>>380622937
Fuck you
We bought 2 giant ass peanut butter flavored Capn Crunch for the CDs and were forced to eat it all
I still get nauseous when smelling PB
>>380618361
RoR is pretty well known in /v/ but I don't know anyone IRL apart from myself that has played this beautiful gem which is really sad considering Haunting Ground had so much praise and is considered far superior.
>>380618361
A lot of people played it.
>>380623367
Haunting ground is superior in everything but atmosphere and weirdness though, I say this as a huge RoR fan.
>>380618361
I feel sad for this game every while because retarded westkek SJWs killed it.
Anyway I'm not nostalgic for it or anything, I saved up 3 copies of it in 2014-2015 when it was becoming super rare and collectible. I'll go re-play it in a bit, this game shits on haunting ground and is on-par with Silent hill but the media killed it.
Japanese are truly the master race of vidya.
>>380623367
Some of my collector friends have played this. It got a pretty big boost of popularity when the Saturn version got translated, with a bunch of extras.
I liked it.
>>380619973
I played El Shaddai for the first time today. It's fucking boring
>>380623358
Holy fuck another human being who actually played even knows this existed. What was your favorite game? Skateboarding/lava rock throwing (?), or that weird ass circuit board platforming one a la doodle jump?
I think I spent 10 hours alone playing skateboarding.
>>380623971
agreed, the atmosphere and story seemed a lot more original than haunting ground but i'm weird and enjoy games despite bad mechanics like deadly premonition
>>380624052
3 copies?! If the game didn't emulate so well I would get around to purchasing one..
>>380623971
Haunting Ground has an in interesting story behind it. Resident Evil 4 had a bumpy development. They went through 3 or 4 builds, one of which ended up becoming Devil May Cry. When they finally finished the game they had a whole bunch of elements left over from previous builds of the game so they decided to recycle them into a game. Mikami also decided to remake RE1 at the time, right before taking over for RE4's development. So, in an odd way Devil May Cry, Haunting Ground, Resident Evil Remake and 4 form part of a rather unique anthology and if you play HG, REmake, and DMC1 in a marathon you will see a hell of a lot of commonalities.
y'all
>>380624052
How did the media kill it? I was only like 13 when it came out, I don't remember hearing anything about it until my uncle forced me to play it.
Although me not hearing anything about it could be what you mean.
>>380618964
No, not at all
I never managed to play it since my modded ps2 died, as interesting as it may seem the gameplay itself looks like complete ass.
>>380625249
>until my uncle forced me to play it
that's immersive af man, i'm jealous..
>>380624693
The platformer probably. I don't remember much since it was about 15 years ago or so, and I hate it by proxy since it reminds me of the shitty PB Capn Crunch. My brother and I did clear it a couple of times. Didn't the pets had stats that increased depending on the minigames cleared?
>>380618361
I remember this game being noteworthy for some reason or another, but I don't remember what.
>>380625247
PSH. I have that game on the PS2, 360, and PS4, all physically.
>>380625249
Google 'Rule of Rose controversy.' Specifically in Europe this was a big thing.
>>380625625
Okay that made me literally laugh out loud.
>>380618361
>games you played only because the player character is a sweet girl with curves
>>380618361
bought it day 1
no regrets
>>380625682
it was banned in several countries
>>380625903
Nier?
>>380625539
I hated this bitch so much
>>380625249
google it or look on its wiki page you retard
>>380625639
Yeah they like grew up or some shit to fight the lizard king? You fed them different types of captain crunch to boost certain attributes.
The people over at nestle or whatever they are must've got really stoned one night and programmed it all, then put it in their cereal boxes.
>>380624052
>retarded westkek SJWs killed it.
It was Atlus' doing though, they had tried to create controversity for the publication of it and were too succesful.
>>380626117
Overzealous GTA it seems.
>>380625682
big muh controversy memes
weskek SJWs would've never guessed a few years later they would be playing Bayonetta, women would be stripping on their TVs, and Japanese Waifu games would be on top of the market regularly.
Rule of Rose was a sacrifice in the beginning of the road.
>>380626076
Jessica has a pretty decent model and some stylish animations for PS2 era, too.
>>380618361
>this game got banned in a bunch of countries and got lynched by critics and had red flags over it while GTA SA and Haunting ground were running around scott free
Why?
>505 Games chose to cancel the release of the game in the United Kingdom following complaints by Frattini and other EU officials, and "largely misleading"[32] commentary from the British press.[33] It was released in the rest of Europe. Review copies of the title had already shipped to British journalists when this was announced. The British body which had granted the title its 16+ PEGI rating (the Video Standards Council) responded to the press and Frattini's comments: "I have no idea where the suggestion of in-game sadomasochism has come from, nor children being buried underground. These are things that have been completely made up. [...] We’re not worried about our integrity being called into question, because Mr Frattini’s quotes are nonsense."[
>>380626559
I'll agree with you on the first bit, it was a Japanese game after all.
But, who the fuck is Jessica, anon?
>>380626565
Muh children!
>>380626029
no
which countries?
And I beat it too.
>tfw their website is still up and running after all those years
>it shrinks to the top left of the screen because bigger resolutions didn't exist those days
This nostalgia is killing me lads, this website used to fill my whole screen and look cool and aesthetic as fuck back in its days (this is obviously really good design for 2000s)
>the download links are dead
>the news tab leads you to articles from 2006
>>380626421
The problem is that it features realistic looking children doing those things, it would raise controversy even today and considering the way 4chan is now I wouldn't be surprise if most people here panned it as well because "muh pedos".
>>380623971
Haunting Ground is cool but it's a pain that you're constantly being interrupted from puzzles even if you're really far ahead of the pursuer. ClockTower was goofy in a bad way but I appreciated having less hide and seek, more making progress.
Point and click adventure-open world hybrid with character driven side quests a la Persona or Deadly Premonition, with a script straight out of /pol/. I couldn't finish it, but it was a fun game when it lasted.
>>380627843
Culpa Innata, Mistake of the born? Is this a shitty way to reference fault in our stars
>>380627793
>ClockTower was goofy in a bad way
You are talking about Clock tower 3, right?
>>380628228
Was that one the mahou shoujo game?
The bossfights looked fun.
>>380618361
Rerelease/remake when?
>>380628345
Yep, that one,I liked it unironically.
>>380628393
Literally Never Ever. Game sold like shit, wouldn't even warrant a playstation plus free release
t. OP
>>380618361
>dog walking simulator
Setting and plot were pretty interesting though.
>>380628228
3 is alright until you play Haunting Ground which is basically 3 but universally superior. Well, maybe not "universally" if you have a huge hard on for the cutscenes and magical girl sections.
>>380620259
I got it after I already hacked my PSP. It's my GOAT block puzzle game, and I can't stand that the Vita Lumines is such utter shit in comparison.
>>380628938
One day I'll have $200 to spare and will just throw it at this stupid thing.
I bet you fags don't even know what qix is
>>380629141emulate it
>>380628228
It wasn't like a silly game, but it had a lot of really stupid stuff like the ghosts and voice acting and the scissor sisters. And while the enemies might have been seriously bad dudes all of them really ham it up because they love their job so much.

>>380628345
If I remember right your grandfather is so disappointed by his son that he summons ancient demons to acquire enough human souls/suffering to become the new lord of darkness. His son was supposed to be the man of the house, but his wife comes from a long line of magical girls with fantastic cosmic power. You know who's wearing the pants in that relationship.
>>380629141
Why not just emulate it?
>>380628997
The beginning of CT3 is genuinely good imo, the first 2 pursuers specifically, it goes downhill after that.
>>380625539
The gameplay mimics silent hill and classic resi's.
I.e it's perfectly fine.
>people complaint RoR's shitty controls
>I can play it only with a keyboard while emulating because of its shitty contorls
Thanks Atlus.
>>380628997
did any clock tower fans actually manage to finish nightcry and like it?
i have a strange affinity for weird character interactions (like in SH) and kinda shitty controls so the game intrigues me even tho ppl hate it
>>380629286
>>380629384
Never was one for emulation. I'm weirdly purist like that. Also, I don't have a good PC for emulation lying around anyways, just a Surface tablet and a shitty laptop from 2009 running Linux.
>>380629512
Its not that, its bugged, the combat locking doesn't work well half the time.
>>380629512
There is a lotand i mean a LOTof padding because you have to follow the dog who moves slow as fuck, especially if you're looking for extra healing items for the awful awful boss fights.
>>380629294
That was the point, the series is a campfire horror story plot.
>>380629790
Fuck, I forgot NightCry happened. I've just been waiting until it got super cheap on Steam or something. Couldn't tell you, man.
>>380629908
Exactly, it mimics RE and SH.
>>380629294
Sounds absolutely retarded.
I love it.
>>380625249
>How did the media kill it?
Myths and rumours had it mentioned in the tabloid press in the UK, which led to its voluntary withdrawal. As a result, UK copies of it are either from stolen stock or review copies - and incredibly rare. People then extrapolated this to mean _every_ copy of the game was rare, when in reality it wasn't much more difficult to find than any other niche PS2 game on the continent. Which is why there's been a pretty constant supply of Spanish and French copies on eBay for years now.
>>380630016
>Okay team, we need a monster for our game
>...
>How 'bout a midget with a big pair of scissors?
>BRILLIANT!
>>380629512
Except Silent Hill has always had good but boring combat and Resident Evil gives you guns with nearly unlimited ammo in all but the first game. In Rule of Rose you don't have any hit invincibility at all so the fish monsters and mermaid bile will drain your health to nothing in less than a second. A lot of the enemies really out-range you and there's no counterplay aside from having more health items. And every encounter has you fight like half a dozen dudes at the same time which is alright until Brown gets hurt and every time you shake one imp away 2 more grab onto you. It doesn't help that once you are hurt you move at 25% of your normal speed.
>>380629790
Nightcry is so broken the only way to like it is ironically.
Filled with bugs, it has like just one creepy scene, the characters are all idiots, the controls are designed for touchscreen, plotholes everywhere, it has the least threatening scissorman ever.
>>380619658
>the "Dog" ending was kinda unbelievable
I mean it is pretty creepy in how it boils down toa child's interpretation of a mentally unstable man crawling into the building and throttling everyone. But the way the clunky combat section was set up does make it look a bit sillier in execution.
>>380630526
I'll give you that, it's a creepy yet poorly executed concept. Although to this day and after a few playthroughsthe multiple endings boiling down to basically that one fight, makes it pretty awful.
and it being mostly a shot in the dark to get a specific ending
>>380630363
damn so it's not even good in a hilariously bad horror jap game type way..
>>380630016
I can't look at clocktower without thinking about the sub 2 minutes TAS anymore
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id24ek5Esi0
>>380631380
Well you can laugh at how bad it is, as long as you don't have any kind of expectation as a fan of the series.
Given the names behind the kickstarter, this turned out way worse than MN9
>>380619973
I played Child of Eden, mostly because NMH got me into Genki Rockets a little bit at the time.
It was a pretty enjoyable game, for what it was.
>>380631814
>Any%
>>380619973
Kuon was a good little number, my only problem with it was the two main scenarios were too alike for the most part.
Good little horror game though, was pleasantly surprised.
>>380631814
That is the worst ending, anyone can do that, its a kind of joke/trap ending.
>>380632498
No, if you notice you never get the final scene of the scissors appearing. Since you never see any of your friend's deaths you never raise bad ending flags, so the game counts believes you got the best ending.
I always thought that game was interesting due to people comparing it to Silent Hill but I never got to play it.
Is this the underrated horror games thread?
>>380627118
she looks exactly like betty or whoever the fuck that bitch was in sarge's heroes
>>380633658
Was Siren Blood Curse good? I played the demo but got scared like a pussy so I didn't get the game
>>380634075
I've only played the original.
>>380634075
Blood Curse is to Siren what the Silent Hill movie is to the rest of the franchise
>>380634390
Why?
>>380633658
Siren, Rule of Rose, Kuon, Haunting Ground... More like PS2 horror games.
>>380634457
nah trap porn is the new craze
>>380634489
It's a westernized action/horror hybrid with some nods to the original to keep the link with the rest of the IP.Not THAT bad but vastly inferior to the other games
>>380634916
But why is it inferior?
>>380634390
that's a little extreme, i prefer siren 2 but i enjoyed blood curse more than siren 1 because it was a modern departure but with a distinctively siren feel and even though the story wasn't quite on par with 2 it wasn't terrible.
>>380635221
also i didn't mind the silent hill movie that much, probably one of the better game/movie adaptations we've had along the first 2 resi movies even if if did shit on the games lore
>>380624052
So.........
Was that woman a ghost the entire time?
>>380635123
They remade the first game, but with the horror elements less horrific, they removed the uncanny photo face textures, the gameplay is less tense
>>380634457
Played it a year ago.
>>380635997
The theory that makes more sense to me isadult Jennifer is having a dream where she remembers her traumatic childhood. In the intro video she "wakes up" on a bench in a park, then she sees the dog, Wendy and herself as a kid, and that's probably the start of her nightmare.
>>380630808
I really wish that Rule of Rose had gotten a remaster. There are a lot of good ideas held back by some pretty horrendous mechanics.
