So quit playing. Sell your shit and get a new hobby that caters to you. I have been playing games since 1986 and I still find the wonder and joy in it. When I can't I'll find something else. If I can say that after 31 years of gaming you should be able to too. Otherwise you've shut yourself off from anything outside your comfort zone. Its sad that DotA 2 and LoL are the games that are at the top of the chart. I dont hate mobas, but the fact that those games come from a custom Warcraft III (and Starcraft) map burns my very own soul. I know those games arent going to die any time soon, but Im waiting to see what people play next.

You don't have to be jaded but to say that videogames now are better than the late 90s early 2000s era shows you are either underage or haven't even played the older games yet.

I think most of /v/ would agree that the industry started going downhill around 2006-2007.

I think the only people who legit enjoy most the crap released this generation are stoners who can't enjoy games without weed and playing with friends.

I think the difference between back then and now is that there was a lot more quality games released for the neckbeard who enjoyed singleplayer adventures and gameplay.

Overall, yes, games have gone downhill 2006-2007, that's when the industry shifted focus to the quickly growing casual market, which today is the biggest demographic in the industry. There are still interesting games here and there that benefit from better technology, however.
