G.U. is way more accessible and a better entry point in the series due to how much more easy to comprehend the lore is, how much more centered around the characters it is, and how the gameplay is WAY more up to date and enjoyable. I enjoy both sagas but I have found that the people I recommended started with G.U. were more likely to get invested in the series and go back to IMOQ out of interest for the story and world, thana the people I recommended started with the original one and didn't really get into it due to the initial impact with the outdated gameplay and complex worldbuilding.

I'm more interested in people finding out about this saga and liking it than to feel better about myself for knowing and playing the old one

I think Kite could have dealt with him better if he were around. The best way to deal with Haseo is to be reasonable while not being a doormat and giving him as few reasons to get mad as possible. Still, I think he was ultimately one of the people that Haseo got along with best. The main key is that you need to be upfront with him. One of Haseo's biggest issues was his inability to trust people easily, so the less reason you give him to mistrust you, the best chances you have to get him to like you. Of course, there was Atoli, but she was a separate matter.

It's so easy I could do it: Even though the point of The World was originally to be to develop the Ultimate AI, at some point corporate interest will cause the company to shut down the World and do something new or build something from the ground up, this means Aura will effectively die. Faced with this, Aura goes mad or something at the thought of death or being alone for eternity. She then starts systematically removing everyone's log out button and traps them all in the game. Or something. Or did I just somehow describe the plot?

The Trilogy movie is non-canon. Aura was basically in a slumber, and left Zefie in her place to grow with The World to become like herself. Last time Zefie was seen at all was by the last scientist guy who was walking around R:1 one last time, and saw Zefie ascend or something, apparently giving him hope that The World will always be protected or something. I don't remember the exact details, but it's one of the logs in G.U.

The Eight Phases only came into existence after Morganna went mad. She created them from herself in order to fulfill certain roles. For the most part, their main role was to prevent Aura's birth while removing any potential interlopers. Macha, however, was different in that her original purpose was to keep Tsukasa from wanting to wake up, as her first plan was to link Aura's development to Tsukasa's mental state. As long as Tsukasa tried to run away from reality, Aura would never awaken.

The reason the fragments of Morganna are derived from the Eight Phases from the Epitaph of Twilight is due to the inherent idiosyncrasies present within The World and Morganna's systems. Harald deliberately based his system off of the Epitaph of Twilight, to the point where it deeply rooted into everything. Morganna was unable to behave outside of these pre-defined outlines, so when she split herself off into fragments, they naturally ended up taking the forms of the Eight Phases.

The concept you're describing is actually part of The World itself. The game was created specifically to facilitate Aura's birth, and every single aspect of its design is meant to be linked to that. Everything, from player interactions, behavior, play patterns, even currency and items, all of it was data to be collected and used to facilitate Aura's development. The Eight Phases have nothing to do with that system.

All other phase users have to give them his power, for one. Then he also needs Zelkova's shit. And even THEN, the phase users still have to be around to be all like "yeah, do the thing with our power, cause you kinda suck without it."

It's obviously simply for the seinen dramatic effect, but it does play out more blatantly than in IMOQ's "bash the everloving shit out of that thing!"

Funnily enough both games do end with the same "power of friendship" an-heroing against the last boss.
