This. With a port we would just get the 3DS modes and stages added, and MAYBE Ice Climbers and Wolf if we were lucky. With a new game we can get Inkling, Spring Man, etc.

There's no reason they can't add Inkling, Spring Man, etc. to a port.

Hopefully they make SSB4DX, SSB4.5, "Smash5" or whatever, don't really care, but I don't see any reason why they don't just re-use assets from Sm4sh. If they start from the ground up again on another Smash it'll be a very long time before we see another entry.

They could easily just make a new game. It's not like they'll overhaul the engine like they did with Brawl. The shitty gameplay that came with it is the base for Smash 4 and will probably be fot Smash 5.
