hasn't Halo gone far enough from what it was already though? 3 had us winning a war against aliens that were genociding us and now there's AI-gods and we wuz Forerunners, which there always was but god now it's at the front of the plot. I don't want space-mercenaries thrown on top of that.

How so? I know they have crossplay with Rocket League and Phil Spencer said he'd be cool with Banjo being in Smash a while back but what else has there been?
