It's optional. People don't realize that they can use the voice chat on the phone like you would with Discord or Skype on mobile. This device however is a dual volume splitter, meaning you get the voice chat and game audio coming through the same connection. You don't have to do this for voice chat if you're playing in TV mode, because you likely have the TV volume on. It's meant for those who are on the go and happen to be in a place with connection but also want dual audio going.
