Mario is the single strongest character in the entire history of fictionary characters.

His dominion over QPU travel and pedro spots is akin to mastery of time and space, he can strike his enemies at speeds above light's and literally travel to parallel dimensions at will.
His powerups allow him to assume specialized shapes and powers to handle any foe or danger, and their number is always increasing.
His repertoire of pixel perfect jumps, rolls, backflips, bellydives, etc. is not a mere acrobatic talent but a tool to undermine and exploit the fabric of the universe itself.
An opponent strong enough manages to defeat one of his aspects? An improved and more powerful version of himself will repeat the battle. If enough 1-Up avatars are defeated, he'll manifest as his true golden-white essence, which is unable to be damaged.
And lastly, Super Mario Odissey has even further stretched out the already thin line that separates Mario from the metaphysical concept of Absolute God. His hat is not only a dangerous weapon in its own right, but his ability of possession allows Mario to literally BECOME his enemy, to own its body, mind and soul.
