When Battlefield 3 was about to release I was hoping the campaign would be large-ish maps with tons of bots you got to command over. Kind of like BF2 Modern Combat on consoles in terms of switching from unit to unit, but you could tell squads/tanks where to go.

But it was generic CoD campaign that was forgotten. Well done EA!

I actually enjoyed the BF3 campaign for what it was. The multiplayer is what lost me and I haven't bought a BF game since just due to how disappointing it was

If you get the Eve of Destruction 2 mod for BF2, I'd recommend Purple Haze. That map is one hell of a cluster-fuck in all the right ways with 256 bots.

I did something similar, but alongside a mod that I made to remove the view distance, increase the distance gun shots and explosions can be heard, gave weapons manly amounts of recoil and damage and made the bots go prone and fire their guns from further away.
It's fun. There's a ton of other changes too but I'm too lazy to list them all
