This, FIFA is a very good sign for the console, and over 3 months later, it's still very hard to get a Switch. I think at this point, they don't even have to keep promoting it, as soon as late September/October hits, the Holiday shopping will pick up, and it's going to get even crazier when the kids start begging mommy and daddy for a Switch.

It's also avoiding the Wii U issue of "Nintendo doesn't know how to develop in HD". While fairly obvious by now that Nintendo's gotten into HD remasters, it was actually a pretty big reason for the huge droughts of games on that system. Third-party games are always hit or miss on Nintendo consoles, the real lifeblood is first party and it's coming out a lot quicker on Switch with the major technological hurdle out of the way. Also the hurdle of how "How the fuck do we implement the gamepad?" which obviously no one at NIntendo ever figured out.

Right now I've only got my Switch and PS4 to play games on. I still have my old Wii but to this day I hate the controller. I think it's nice when Nintendo does well. Sometimes they seem out of touch, but other times they seem like the only big company left whose execs want their developers making games that look fun AND profitable rather than just the latter.

This E3 felt so soul sucking for me. I don't think it was even the worst one I've seen, but it was the hardest to sit through for some reason. Big games want to sell themselves as sweeping epics with powerful stories, smaller games are trying so hard to be healing, poignant experiences that it always comes off as disingenuous. Nintendo's presentation was just okay, really, but the end turned almost everything around. Mario Odyssey looked like the exact opposite of everything that killed me inside this E3.

The Joycons are plastic but they aren't flimsy, they handle abuse quite well, and the main unit does as well. As far as stick placement goes, it should only feel weird if you're talking about single joycons mode.

I think that's an exceptionally bad screenshot. The difference between DaS3 and MHW is organic environments with lush foliage. It's not really that demanding to render castle interiors (or really manmade structures of any kind) because they consist of a lot of flat surfaces. Whereas look at all that grass. BotW shits itself under the grass load and it's a 900p, cellshaded game with borderline 6th gen geometry.

I mean, you could water down Uncharted 4 to run on the PSX if you wanted to. But it would involve such egregious compromises that not only would it not be worth it, but it would not be the type of thing a company would want to release because the perceived lack of quality would tarnish their name

I really think there's been a lot of misinformation about the Switch being "close to" the original Xbone, and it's really inaccurate. It's far closer to the 360, if we're to use the word "close" to describe it.

Compare Lost Woods to MHW. There is a generation of console power between them. BotW has a beautiful art style and I can appreciate a cartoony theme without much regard to realism, but the reason they went for it is because it hides the exceptionally low geometry.

You are the one that is mistaken dude. The reason why BotW isn't exactly as capable as it should be is because it is a Wii U port. The Wii U having an entirely different architecture and the fact that Nintendo was in a rush to port it resulted in what we see now. The framerate problems have been mostly fixed now though. Also saying that the Switch's power is far closer to the 360 is a ridiculous statement. It is powered by a Tegra X1, and we already know that it is much more powerful than the 360. Not only that, but now that developers have direct access to the hardware, unlike the Nvidia Shield. I'm happy for them but there's absolutely no scenario in which I will buy a Switch. Nintendo fucked me completely with the Wii U. I put up with their shit gimmick because it wasn't as bad as the Wii and what did I get for it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. There wasn't a slow stream of games. After Bayonetta 2, or around that early time, they just stopped. Then they outright replaced the fucking thing. They simply cannot be trusted.

Same thing has happened with Sony this gen. No games at all.

This is a gigantic fucking copout. It's not like it's a Wii U emulator. They took the art assets and made code that runs on the Switch instead. It's not a fucking rickety bridge that's about to collapse. Yeah no, they didn't use dynamic scaling to increase FPS in their patches. If you meant that they always had this in their games, then sure. They could have done the exact same thing with MHW, and considering World to be limited to small areas while XB2 and BotW are completely open areas, I'm pretty sure they could have ported MHW without issues.
