This is all bullshit. There were never any plans for DS to be at this years Sony conference.

This close of show ceremony was supposed to be a bigger deal but they fucked it somehow (something in that extra-long downtime between the end of OATS Studio piece and start of the finale) and genuinely just ran out of time. You could see Keighley was coming out to say goodbye real quick when the audio cut out completely. Either youtube or something at the location was imposing an absolute hard end-time.

It doesn't have anything to do with 'the ruse cruise', just yet another inexplicable fuckup in this years E3 (just like the Bethesda conference which also obviously had significant last-minute cuts).

I like the game if I don't treat it like a metal gear. The actual story conveyed through the cutscenes is like some weird spin off story about revenge, with all the actual mgs stuff hidden away via tapes that you never have to touch if you don't want to. I went back and played the important missions only and there's a pretty tight concise action movie experience in there with some awesome fucking cutscenes with great music, but it's all muddled up by the rest of the game that's repeat missions in the same areas of the map, with barely any story relation outside of "CIPHERS BEHIND THIS". It's genuinely a shame that he decided to do a pure open world instead of hitman style levels.

All the game needed was more mission variety, the gameplay is top notch, and the open world wouldn't have been as damning if there was just more to do than Fulton, shoot, ghost to [non important person here] 49 times.
