I really want to be excited for this game, but I'm scared for some reason. Maybe its Cyanide studios.

I thought there was already a game called Call of Cthulu.

You should be scared. There's literally been 0 actual gameplay shown.
>>380547380
There was. CoC:Dark Corners of the Earth. It was buggy as hell, but really scary and atmospheric.
>>380547468
I know.
The trailers also seem to imply that they're actually going to show Cthulhu. If they do that, then it automatically fails.

Yeah when they started showing us Old Ones and shit was the exact moment Dark Corners jumped the shark.

Conarium is already the perfect lovecraft game.
>>380547589
that game was great until you got the machine gun, after that it was just a crappy fps
>>380547380
>I thought there was already a game called Call of Cthulu.
They are both adaptations of the tabletop roleplaying game of the same name.

>Cyanide studios
I don't know, they have some "not great stuff" behind them but they got better and their 2 Styx games are even pretty good imho. Maybe they can do something with that game.

>the official video game
How is it official if Lovecraft's stuff is public domain.
Name other lovecraftian games, I'm in the mood for some
Dark Corners of Earth
Bloodborne
Eternal Darkness
Undying
Darkness Within 1&2

Darkest Dungeon has a lot of those themes.
Layers of Fear(if you want to be bored out of your gourd)
Early X-Com games, especially Terror from the Deep, have that kind of vibe.
>>380547252
Graphics looks really weak
>>380549036
Penumbra fit the bill pretty well I'd say. Amnesia not so much
>>380549036
The Void was such a disappointment.
>>380549036
Quake 1
Prisioners of Ice
>>380549036
>let's put a bunch of genres of horror in a movie completely disconnected from each other, it's gonna work just fine
>>380549036
Super Mario World: Call of Cthulhu.
I'm completely serious.
>>380548970
The mythos is a cluster fuck of different authors, some of which is public domain/creative Commons and some of which is not.
"Call of Cthulhu" is owned by Chaosium Games, a tabletop RPG publisher. Maybe the new vidya is licensed by them and based on the tabletop?

this
>>380548970
The font of the name looks a lot like the Chaosium RPG brand, so maybe it is official regarding them.
>wobbly-screen sanity meter
epic
Oh boy, no gameplay!
